iPhone Firmware 2.2 to be released on November 21st

iPhoneHellas.gr claims that iPhone Firmware 2.2 will be released to iPhone users in 10 days on November 21st based on a reliable source.

iPhoneHellas.gr had previously revealed that Apple is planning to add a rating system for iPhone apps in the upcoming firmware update.

iPhoneHellas.gr is claiming that iPhone Firmware 2.2 will be released to iPhone users on November 21st based on a reliable source. Though we haven't heard anything reliable (or unreliable) from the site so far, Gizmodo describes them as "reliable".

Folks at iPhoneHellas.gr have also confirmed the features that iPhone firmware 2.2 Beta 2 and Beta 1 have revealed so far:

Over-the-air podcast downloads direct to the iPhone
Apple is planning to add a rating system for iPhone apps
Google's Street View incuding walking and public transportation routes for directions
Ability to turn off auto-correction
Japanese Emoji Icons
Tweaks to App Store Application
Minor Tweak to iPhone Safari's browser
Line In recording!!!
Apple had seeded its developers of the iPhone Developer program with the second beta version of iPhone Firmware 2.2 on Oct 24th, 2008.

If the news of the iPhone firmware 2.2 has got you worried on the iPhone Hacking front, then you may breathe easy as the iPhone Dev Team have confirmed that their Pwnage Tool works with iPhone firmware 2.2 (tested with the beta 2).

Pretty sure you have to have a jailbroken i phone and have to download a 3rd party app for it. Pretty stupid really.

I've got iTalk on my phone now and it's fairly good. Might not be the best though. Not sure of the quality.

One thing i want them to include in the new firmware is the option to forward txt messages. It's ridiculous that such an advanced phone with so many features can't even perform this simple task. You can buy a phone for 40 bucks and it'll forward txt messages for you!

Yes, and the other glitch I found was when sending group texts and responded to the group, not just one person. Again, similar to your problem Andy, just in the way they set up the TXT messaging like chat seems to have effected some options.

Copy iphone music directory onto harddrive, it will probably be hidden so you'll have to unhide it. Import the new folder into a new playlist in itunes.

Definitely a step in the right direction for Nokia, but geez they need to work on their interface design (software + hardware).

yeah, the 6500 and the e66 (which i'm rocking) are both quite nice. simple, rather slim, and pretty much just do what you want.

new firmware gives u the new filtering system in the app store. sort by free apps and paid and release date..

I found some awesome new free ones in categories. used to have to scroll through hundreds of apps to find any decent free ones. good improvement.

mad new ones i have found:

now playing - movie app. uses gprs to locate cinemas around u, shows all the session times, and u can watch previews etc of movies. very cool app.

bbc, cnn and time all have web apps. good 4 news.

tap defense and cube. still a few bugs in these but fun games.. (cube looks like DOOM)

four free - connect 4. awesome

heaps more .. cant be bothered typing anymore..
