Beechworth is lovely anytime of year, and lots of the guest houses there are well equipped for cool weather with open fireplaces and stuff. You can walk in the gorge, check out the wineries around there and they even have good food!! See what you can find there maybe?

I have enjoyed going to the one on Chapel St. Sure the dumplings didnt come on a trolley, but they were super steaming fresh, and with very good quality ingredients. Costs top dollar, but worth it!

There's little left on bridge rd these days that is actually discount clothing, but also worth a look though much more expensive is David Lawrence (my job interview jacket is from there) or even Esprit for their more tailored things (button up shirts).

The best way to get upto the minute information is to listen to ABC 774. They do an emergency broadcast in times like this to tell people where the fires are and what do to for help.
