Melbourne Beats Mixathon :: Sign up!

Post by fooishbar »

Hi,
The mixathon will be taking a little breather for the summer; November's somewhat gone, and December is Christmas and stuff. (Plus, we're kind of slack.)

If you think that, given a full month's notice, you can pull a mix out, dump your name here or PM myself or system. Come late December, we'll pull a name out of a hat in a brandy and marzipan-induced stupor, and start the cycle. Get in there -- the more varied, the better. Hopefully we'll be rolling with something different every month. Honest. :)

Don't worry about hosting or anything like that. As long as you can bang out a mix and get it to us by the last week of the month, it's all good.

Yeah, didn't it used to be that if you got voted for 5 times, you had 5 "lottery tickets" so to speak for winning the next mixathon?

Not according to the original thread... or maybe I'm reading it wrong, I thought the final list would look something like

Person 1
Person 1
Person 1
Person 1
Person 1
Person 2
Person 2
Person 2
Person 3
Person 4
Person 5
etc.

Then a random number would pick one of those slots. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong. :D

i say everybody makes a mix, and the person who draws the short straw goes for the world record dj set mixing them all together. It's only 3 days or something, some people on here do 5, 6 easy.

Yeah you are reading it wrong. I think the number of votes only ordered the list, didn't give more "chances".

Ah yeah... seems unnecessarily complicated lynt! :) May as well just sort them alphanumerically and pick a random number.

we'll have a think about how it runs during january, but at the moment, we've just got a bunch of names from this thread and pm, and in the next few days, we're just going to pick a random name out of the hat, and ask them to do a mix. if they can't, then we'll do another random number, and ask the next person, and so on. so if you want to put your name in, you've only got a couple of days.

we'll announce this person as soon as they confirm, and they'll (hopefully) put the mix up on feb 1st, for your enjoyment until the next mix lands on march 1st. :)

question......

I like this concept - always have, it's great.

but.....

if I move to Sydney, does that make me ineligible to nominate myself for a MELBOURNEbeats.com mixathon?
