R.I.P. Lux Interior

Post by quiet roar »

One of the most enigmatic frontmen to ever strut on a stage, Lux Interior, lead singer of The Cramps passed away yesterday. Officially aged 62 (although his real age was closer to 70), he died from heart failure.

The Cramps were a revolutionary band that blasted convention and influenced pretty much every real rock band since.

Lux Interior and Poison Ivy, was there ever a raunchier rock couple?

R.I.P. you crazy fucker.

The world loses another total show-man.
Cynical swipe at current "alternative" music not appropriate.
Heart failure is hardly a surprise.
I imagine him doing 80 down the highway in a cherry red '53 chevy and seeing some very attractive 20 year old in a mini-skirt and collapsing at the wheel.
I heard he once dropped 40 pills and just rode around LA on buses masturbating for hours.
That story is 14 years old. Around the time I was lucky enough to see them live.
They were pretty freakin' awesome in their heyday.
I've got something in my eye.
Vale. Lux Interior.

Between The Cramps and The Misfits, you have my entire Freshman year of high school soundtrack. Actually found a copy of their first album on vinyl a while back...had to buy it for old times sake. LEGEND!!!
