Techno lovers, please help

Post by Dingo »

Hey peeps,
Been lovin some darker/progressive forms of techno of late and was hopeing to get abit more scope of some artists/labels that I might enjoy.
Nothing too electro, funky or melodic- I just like simple progressive stuff with some eerie textures and dark/wiggedout samples.
Stuff I'm into is the likes of Dnox & Beckers, Gabe, Soma recordings.
Any suggestions would be great.
Peace

hate the use of term progressive with techno..

IMO techno was progressive well before prog heads needed a new band wagon. But thats personal beef.

Anyway Gaiser & others from mid 2000s Minus all good on that tip.. Like RunStopRestore, Magda, Heartthrob etc.

Bpitch Control, most recent Kiki album (older output is very electro-techno), Paul Kalkbrenner is always on point.

Ghostly International & Spectral are amazing labels for cross-over atmospheric Techno amongst a heap of other stuff like ambient pop, ebm, jakbeat, dub. See Matthew Dear, Osborne, Hieroglyphic Being (though he fits more in a new-chicago techno sound, dark and raw but not 'proggy').

Guys like Dapayk, the Architect/Jay Haze do dark, growling techno well.

Berghain tip also good, Ben Klock, Dettmann etc.

Italian tip, like Donato Dozzy does deep and dark well.

probably not so clued in on more recent guys, stopped paying attention once said bandwagon sucked alot of the creativity out.

No synthesizer too arpeggiated, no disco too italo.

Claro Intelecto - Warehouse Sessions Album is killer.

Definitely second the Deep Chord, Pole & Maurizio recommendations.
No synthesizer too arpeggiated, no disco too italo.

Giorgio Gigli
Mike Dehnert
Omar-S

Favourite label - Delsin. Start with Redshape and then explore the rest. It's all good.

Plus Elektrax Recordings (http://www.elektraxmusic.com/), Blueprint (http://www.blueprintrecords.net/), Disko B (http://www.diskob.com/), Shitkatapult (http://www.shitkatapult.com/) and the label I work with, IF? (http://if-records.weebly.com/) - though that's rarely always just techno.
