First Floor's brand new Wednesday night party kicks off on the 26th of May. 'Speaker Chic' a tribute to the sophisticated musical tastes of Melbourne’s north side. Combining Indie-grooves and über cool Electro with the occasional vintage reference or post-disco classic, ‘Speaker Chic’ ignites a 1980s style mingle-fest of young, creative & intelligent socialites.
Launch night includes an epic live performance from 'Tiger Funk' followed by 'Mat Cant', embroiling us with his scandalous blend of UK and garage grooves.
Residents and host's 'Smile on Impact' and 'Youthful Implants' have infamous resumes and are well renowned on the Melbourne scene. Both are Label owners, both have played abroad and both are songwriters who have had support from some of the biggest DJs in World. They will start and finish the night with trademark flavour and class. The newly renovated First Floor will provide $4 Champagne for you classy types, alongside their extensively sexy cocktail list. Entry is free and attendance is compulsory for Chic Girls and Speaker Boys.

Mat Cant has played to crowds across Australia and his online mix tapes continue to get hundreds of downloads. In the past year he has supported over 40 international guests and gone on to DJ at Good Vibrations Festival, Golden Plains and Sound Safari. With residencies at well respected venues like Revolver, The Espy and Eurotrash, Mat knows how to keep the party moving.
Mat is also co-owner of the online record label Scattermusic and writer for the internationally acclaimed music blog, The Scatterblog. Mat’s production is something he is really starting to work on right now and has been collaborating with some of the heavyweights in the industry like Nick Thayer, AC Slater, Fraksha and released a EP with Scattermish in October 09 with remixes from Sticky K (dubsided), The Hump Day Project, Yacht Club DJs & Paz. The EP titled "Hornbo" has had support from some of the industries main artists including the Crookers, Sinden, Diplo, Ajax, Oh Snap, Act Yo Age, Sticky K, Dubble Dutch, Neoteric and many more. Mat’s production has also had International radio air play in New Zealand, USA, Europe to name a few. Mats production has been included in mixtapes by HeavyFeet, Dubble Dutch, received rave reviews on Juno, Turntable Lab and blogged on various blog sites on the internet. In early Janurary 2010 Mat Signed to Ajax's Label "Sweat It Out" and with many original tracks and remixes in the pipe-works at the moment, Mat Cant is a name to watch.
Smile on Impact, knows his shit. The DJ/Producer has written some bangin club tunes with support from massive Australian and International DJs. He’s received airplay on JJJ, Fox fm, Nova, Kiss Fm, Rage and international FM radio. He’s played interstate and overseas parties and Hosts an online TV show called ‘Pro Juice’ about Music and Film production. A Pinoeer of Electro crossovers, always with a dirty, yet sassy vibe. He’s new residency at First Floor will see him flex his productions and hone his DJing to lift the standard of mid week parties in Melbourne.
Youthful Implants aka Alex Virr has been involved in Breaks for 12 years as a DJ, recording artist, label manager and promoter. 5 years as a hard-working partner and resident at East London's longest-running Breaks party Supatronix saw him nominated at Breakspoll for best small club 2008 and then in the category of breakthrough label 2009 for Electro label Future Perfect. With DJ sets which showcase the finest music the scene has to offer and now signed to several record labels across the globe including Flextone, Dead Famous, Sango, and Scarcity, his productions are notorious for aggressive beat programming, tearing basslines and a melodic and expressive style . 2010 sees him launch new bass music label Strontium and continue collaborating closely with the 720bass.com empire.
