LAST BASS PARTY @ MERCAT X (FULL VENUE) AUGUST 28TH

After an amazing party just gone with Ramadanman we have decided to do it one last time at the mercat.

As some of you may or may not know the top half of the venue is closing down due to residents sound complaints (the basement however will continue to run). The idea of this party is to get every one together for one last drunken bash!

All door profits + a percentage of the bar will be donated to Beyond Blue (a charity that helps people with depression and anxiety).

Entry will be $5 b4 midnight and $10 after

Top room is run by BBA playing drum n bass, autonomic etc
Atrium will feature Subbass, Juicy Loops, The Operatives, Too Much! and Heavy Innit playing wonky hiphop, breaks, dubstep etc
Basement will feature Too Much! Heavy Innit and other dubstep, house and bashment djs.

depends on a few council decisions but as it stands the upstairs wont be opened any time soon.

the apartments behind have been complaining for about a year and the owners have had to decide to close the top half to avoid loosing their liquor license.

They are already off, and the whole downstairs has been disinfected as of last week hahah

Trust me work is going into the downstairs to make it better.

maybe not so harsh as to have to move to the subs but double glaze their windows and insulate walls instead... then everybody wins.

tres sad to be losing upstairs but it's not all bad i guess if they're gunna fix downstairs in the mean time.

So upstairs will just be just unused space? I liked the upstairs room, system needs improving but the general space for dnb/dubstep gigs fit well. And the balcony area up top is good for the smokers and tokers just means ppl will be spilling out onto the street anyway. Fukn residents! not a big fan of the downstairs @ mercat tbh

downstairs is one of my favourite venues in Melbourne...i love that its horrible down there, should have kept the brackets, closed it off for a weekend and let say 10 writers do their thing

PS. to all the haters... think... This isn't a war on bass music from some sleepy melbourne residents.

Some of the people in the apts behind mercat prob paid a shit load of cash for their property at a time when the Merc was closed and not operating as a club. There are also market and council workers cruising around at night who are always watching.

And I've seen some seriously dumb shit go down over the past 18months such as

- people throwing shit off the balcony
- loud screaming at people from the balcony
- fights out the front
- and some dude kicking a cab whilst it was on the move. WFT??????

Everytime the cops have to be called is another reason for Mercat to lose their license. There's only so much responsibility the bouncers & bar staff can take for other people's behaviour. So start showing a bit of respect before we compromise the future of the basement too.

Actually your wrong.

They can’t here noise from the front and those apartments were built when the club was running however they were not built with double glazed windows.

The noise they are complaining about happens from the upstairs sound system. Essentially the sound proofing in the roof of the main room pushes the sound out through the glass windows in the atrium. The sound wave gets bigger as it travels and the apartments behind get hit with the wave at its maximum volume. The volume from outside the mercat is almost not noticeable when you stand out the back however when you are at their balconies it is at a much louder volume.

As far as this case goes unless you have been working on this case with the mercat and the council probs not much.

I do agree people should show more respect for the club but it has nothing to do with the top half of the venue closing.

AND BIGG UPS ON THE FACEBOOK GROUP,

The support means allot to the owners and every one who works there.
