Hey everyone. As many of you know it's been a very wet few days in Western Victoria. We are going to take today to asses the situation on site and we will give you a full update later this afternoon/evening. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Lots of love to our Beaufort family who have had a tough few days.
:(

shine on was mega fun even if it was apocalyptic, but i cant imagine that with another 8000 people.

feeling for the rainbow team right now....

the camping is hilly at the site, but the main floors of market and mainstage are in a natural bowl type ampitheatre. like, way worse for water catchment than anything at shine on.

I think whether the site stays dry or not is a side issue.

I think the main issue is that the SES is not going to want 10,000 people heading into or be anywhere near an area that they are currently evacuating.

Well I really shouldnt have read this - its depressed the hell out of me. Its now quite warm so GOOOO EVAPORATION!!!

From BOM - "a weak high pressure ridge will move over Victoria on Saturday. A low pressure system will pass south of Tasmania late Sunday and during Monday with associated cold fronts expected to pass through Bass Strait. Another ridge of high pressure will extend from the Bight to Victoria later Tuesday."

I think there will be no more showers between now and RSF as any rain will be contracted to the coasts. Luckily we are in Summer months, the sun stays longer in the sky and with stable high pressures humidity should decrease.

The next 48 hours will be mayhem up there but it should be ok after that.

The latest update from the Rainbow website. Fingers crossed :?

"As many of you know large parts of Australia are currently experiencing record breaking rains which have caused immeasurable damage. Fortunately Western Victoria has escaped relatively unscathed compared to Southern Queensland.

However, we’ve still experienced an exceptionally high amount of rain at the Rainbow site with approximately 200mm of rain falling in the last four days.

Unfortunately the heavy rain has caused damage to the access road and stalled setup and construction. While we are still hopeful that Rainbow will occur as timetabled it is essential we consider both the safety of our set up crew and you our patrons in what is currently a race to finish construction and for the camping areas to dry out before people start to arrive.

The good news is the current rain event for Victoria is over and generally warm sunny weather is forecast for the next seven day outlook.

Please be assured that Rainbow, the Pyrenees Council and Emergency Services are doing everything in our power to ensure that Rainbow proceeds as planned. Please keep a close eye on our website www.rainbowserpent.net and our facebook fan page for further updates on the situation.

There will be another update on Sunday evening after we have the weekend to observe how well the site is drying out and we have determined the timetable for repairs to the access road."

We really appreciate your understanding and patience, think dry thoughts!

My local Foodworks sells cans of Cascade Pale Ale. The only place I've seen that sells Cacade in cans outside of Tasmania. Yay for not having to drink Carlton for 5 days!

Getting ready for my first (and probably last) Rainbow!

Excited, nervous and apprehensive. Everyone keeps telling me i'm going to have a ball though.

Friends, come and see the Operatives in action on the Sunset Stage from 1.30 on Monday. Dust, JPS, Nam and Fugitive. :slayer:

just get into it babe. get dirty, get loose, and let go of any chin stroker tendencies and you will have a blast.
take everything you need for princess-ness (i am a bit of a camping princess)
like baby wipes, soap, towels, good chairs, anything you can think of to make 5 days in the bush comfy.

and if you dont like psy, just give the main stage a 50 metre berth from the minute it begins to when it ends, i do

im excited now.

dont forget your tennis outfits & racquets for market stage monday arvo guys! The Australian Open is gonna be HUGE.

So stoked and excited for another Rainbow adventure! WOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!

Alex Grey stuff was awesome too. and that incredible mechanised psychadelic polar bear omfg!
