Yes I was late to blossom. I usually go away on an extended holiday in Jan. It turns out I'm not this year. I've been wanting to go ever since I moved to Melbourne.

theres 10,000 people babe, you can totes avoid the hippies, just stay away from mainstage & chai tent hehehe

there is now permanent sawdust compost toilets onsite which are the cleanest festival toilets ive ever witnessed, no shit! well, shit, but not as stinky.

there are showers open in the morning and evening, get in early as the line fills up quick!

i manage to stay sparkly and clean every day, but it has taken practice! hahah

tashma - DOOOO EEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will convince you more in person soon.

re hippy hatred - i dont hate hippies, i mean, i am know as the resident MB hippy arent i ? i believe in majick, couchsurfing, and doubt certain forms of science as absolute...My parents were part of the crew than hung out with the Marry Pranksters for fucks sake!

BUT - I have met a number of overly righteous, capitalist people who decide that simply due to having dreadlocks and tattered clothing it justifies a swag of anti social and prejudiced judgements on the rest of those who don't adhere to the stereotype they persue. And that is all.

honestly, EVERY sub culture is pretty much easy to hate on a whole, hipsters, dnb hoody wearing chin strokers, house sluts, muzzas, you name it, its easy to hate it!

but its individuals in every sub culture that are awesome.

rainbow rant over. PLUR. etc.

My hippie hatred used to be a joke. Then I lived Northside for a while and I learnt that hippies are the most elistist subculture of them all. Much worse and much more judgemental than anything else I know.

However German hippies are the exception. The ones that come from Bohemia and have outdoor parties where you don't get knocked back for NOT having dreads or wearing sneakers made in China...

It must also be said that during my rave years I was a hippie myself - especially the free love bit...

Anyway - my hate of hippies is limited to the new era brunswick street kind. The rest of my hate on hippies is totally tounge in check and usually refers back to the Simpsons or the like.

I would much rather hang out in the bush with dirty, smelly hippies than in dirty, dark clubs with pretentious, white sneaker wearing chin strokers.
Yeah some hippies can be very judgmental but you cant generalise......

This is why I'm spending new years camping on edge of the Goulburn River at a small renegade style, donation entry bush doof. This will shit on Bass Jump tenfold. PM if you want to know the details. Last year was brilliant.

Pretty much over going to clubs. Thats why I dont go out very often anymore...

I totally agree with you. Listening to music outside, in good weather, with happy, un-self-conscious people with no bouncers or bullshit or rip off bar prices or try-hards - is exactly why I love going to festivals.

I'm very prepared and bring my own toilet. I wont go into the details on how it works....

Very much a camper. Got gas powered fridge, toilet/shower tent, 12v electric shower and a big canvas tent. Having all the right gear makes camping and festivals a lot more enjoyable.
