Clark burst on to the electronic music scene with his acclaimed 2001 Warp album Clarence Park , and now eight years and four albums later, his dazzling 2009 release Totem's Flare is another triumphant mesh of breakneck dance music, simmering melodies and virtuosic sound design. After a sell out show in 2009, Easter Sunday is sure to become a memorable night in 2011.

Joining Clark this Easter will be Warp label mate Harmonic 313 and new media genius the illusive, Robin Fox live.

There will be something very special from our brothers at The Operatives, with the entire back room hijacked by Espionage showcasing live beat and vocalists with video mapping like you have never experienced in a club environment featuring Nai, Killbot Kindergarten, Ella Thompson, Syreneyiscreamy, JPS, Fugitive, Able, Mikeay, Sean Deans, Martin L and much much more.

Full installation across the whole venue by Racket and unique space located in the front room for sonic exploration.

Chris Clark [Warp, Plant Mu, UK]

As a teenager nabbing his sister's 'Warp-when-they-were-in-Sheffield' tapes, soaking up rare groove and hip-hop, Clark's musical epiphanies were found walking to college in the winter with his headphones on really loud and the air all fresh and frosty. The three pieces that changed his life forever? Pavement's 'Slanted & Enchanted', and fittingly, Squarepusher's 'Theme From Ernest Borgnine' and Autechre's 'Vletrmx21'.

At 20 year old, he signed with Warp Records while still studying at Bristol University. Clark is content to distance himself from the oft-maligned term 'intelligent dance music' or 'IDM', a term most associated with his label-mates Aphex Twin, Squarepusher or Autechre. I was writing music before that term really existed I suppose, but when I first started writing electronic music I just thought of it as techno. Even the sort of ambient stuff, using violin samples and strings with no beats, I still thought of it as techno. Most of my friends are kind of real musicians, and we do collaborate on things like that. And there is plenty of that musicianship at work in Clark's output he uses guitar, drums and piano, albeit unrecognisable and heavily processed, and his programming is ambitious and completely unique. Again, not content with 'clever' music only for the cognoscenti, he readily admits the ridiculous brute force of modern pop engineering is definitely not something I've ever shied away from.

Harmonic 313 [Warp,UK]

Mark Pritchard is not someone you would pick out in a crowd (or identity parade). Yet his work, which now spans most of the last two decades, has been celebrated everywhere from Top of the Pops to Fabric. As a callow youth his prescient Reload projectwas an enormously influential slice of British techno, becoming, fifteen years on, a serious collectors item. So too, his collaboration as Global Communication spawned the seminal 76:14, regarded as one of the greatest ambient albums of all time. He has flitted purposefully between genres with abandon for his entire career, rarely settling anywhere for long. His work continues to impact like stealth bombs on the dance music timeline, capturing the attention of the most discerning industry heavy-weights, be it Jazzy Jeff extolling Marks Harmonic 33 project, Kenny Dope raving about his Troubleman beats or the many tastemaker DJs like Gilles Peterson whose critical support has been a feature of his entire career.

Musically, he has performed with some of the worlds leading improvisers including Jon Rose, Tony Buck, Oren Ambarchi, Lasse Marhaug, Jerome Noetinger, Clayton Thomas (album Substation released by Room40 records 2005), Erkki Veltheim, Natasha Anderson and Sean Baxter among many others and has an ongoing collaborative duo with composer/performer Anthony Pateras. This duo is documented on Coagulate released through synaesthesia in 2003, Flux Compendium released on eMego in 2006 and End of Daze released on deMego late 2008. He is also a member of Beta-erko, a quartet released on Berlin based Quecksilber label. Fox is a regular performer and speaker at Festivals around Australia (What is Music, Liquid Architecture, Electrofringe, SOOB, NowNOW, Big Day Out) and performs regularly across Europe, Asia and America.

He also has a PhD in composition, from Monash University focusing on the development of multi-channel performance ecologies and the design of interactive electro-acoustic situations that explore the dynamic between performer, space and computer and an MA in musicology, which documents the history of experimental music making in Melbourne 1975-9.

Robin Fox is one artist that truly needs to be experienced to be believed.

Full line up and more details about the installations soon.

Ok heres the lowdown on the Espionage room:

Now go into a dimension where we put some of the best electronic producers in Melbourne together with some of the best vocalists from around Australia. Synced with some serious visual mapping and dance. It's something totally new for the Espionage crew and spearheaded by ozsoulcollective chief Syreneyiscreamy.

Espionage room set times:
11-12 Sean Deans

Easily one of the best DJs and Selectors in Melbourne, the Kiwi original has been putting together his long awaited LP which will drop later this year.

12 -12.20 KILLBOT KINDERGARTEN
A retro-futurist collaboration of neo soul tones draped over unashamedly binary bones, Youka Snell and Adam Sait’s project has graduated music college and arrived back at a pre-school for pandas bearing jet packs. Like a soy chai latte in a styrofoam cup, the result is both organic and plastic. You won’t recognise the sound on your lips at first, but after a few sips, you’ll never go to Starbucks again.

12.40-1 MIKEKAY | SYRENEYISCREAMY | ELLA T

Represent the jazz crimes family; a melbourne-based beats initiative pushing antipodean production to the forefront.

Unlike most Australian kids of her generation, Ella grew up listening to the sounds of Donny Hathaway, Etta James and Gladys Knight and the Pips. It was the love of soul and jazz music that made Ella want to sing. She started performing and writing songs at an early age, and is now 20 years old. She has had experience well beyond her years, after touring the country with Renee Geyer, Paul Kelly, Diesel,
supported Stax legend Mavis Staples and playing major festivals.

Ella has travelled to LA and New York to write with various songwriters and musicians. Ella has also appeared on television shows such as “Rockwiz” and is quickly gaining credibility as a promising young artist. Ella has released a self titled EP in 2007 and mini album “Only of you” in 2008. She is currently studying Improvisation at Melbourne's Victorian College of the Arts and writing new songs, creating a new sound inspired by artists such as Radio Head, Jeff Buckley, Santogold, Jamie Liddel and Bilal. Ella has a refreshing take on soul music that we have been waiting to hear.

1-1.20 ABLE | DUZZ | ELLA T |SYRENEYISCREAMY

Able is a unique creature of music.

With multiple releases and awards behind his back,
he has steadily been pushing his alternative brand of hip hop and playing shows in many forms since the age of 15. Having moved to Melbourne from Perth just one year ago he has already made a strong impression on Melbourne’s scene.

Able presents a triple threat: A praised beat-wizard, an intricate MC and skilled event manager all wrapped up into one neat little package. Since relocating, he parted ways with former 10 piece band ‘The Typhoons’ and teamed up with Manix, Ella Thompson, Syreneyiscreamy and many other recording and performing artists in a Voltron-like sense. Collectively culminating all of his past experiences into a one-man show featuring many talented collaborators.

1.20-1.40 FUGITIVE | JPS | SYRENEYISCREAMY

"i like icecream. i like screaming, with digestible and melodic delivery. i like the science of cream, how its heavier than milk but still rises to the top." - SYRENEYISCREAMY

XIAN - RACKETLAB.

Hailing from the wastelands of Bacchus Marsh, Xian's unique grafting of juxtaposing genres is his claim to infamy, from grindcore to crack house, crudstep to greasy R&B and anything it takes to get your knuckle hairs on end. With local releases on System Corrupt and Black Lotus, internationally on Omeko (JAP) Wrong Music (UK) Acidsmover (RU) and BRK (FR) to airplay from TripleJ, Shibuya FM (JAP) and PBSFM. A13 - RACKETLAB

Easily one of Melbourne's most exciting DJ/producers to emerge on the Australian scene. With almost 10 years of DJ experience under his belt, playing in live groups (The Red-Eyes and now Affiks & A13) and smashing the clubs on the regular; A13 has been responsible for introducing Melbourne to the dubstep, future beats and glitch-hop sounds that have spawned from underground studios all over the globe. Acknowledging his affinity almost instantly, he has since started creating his own tracks and playing DJ sets at the popular monthly club nights Heavy Innit!!, Wobble, Too Much and other future music events. Recently supporting some of his favourite artists and key players such as 16Bit (UK), Joker (UK), The Bug (UK), Harmonic313 (UK), Starkey (USA), Truth (NZ), Dexterous (The Others-UK), Joe Nice (USA), Emalkay (UK), 6 Blocc (USA), Curse of the Machines (AUS), Goth Trad (JAP), Nero(UK), 2562(NTL), GrillaStep(AUS), Mista Savona(AUS), Dub Syndicate (JAMAICA) and Mad Professor (UK).
