Need 1 Ticket for burning man

Post by SoulWhiteMan »

Hi everyone

I know I haven't posted here in a long time and I also acknowledge it is kinda selfish to bust in here with a personal request, if it helps, this is on behalf of someone else:

My brother and his mate have bought airline tickets, booked an RV, booked other accomodation, arranged an itinery and packed their survival guide to the United States to go to Burning Man in a week or so.

Unfortunately, only one of them purchased a ticket online, the other thinking they would be able to buy one over the counter in San Francisco....

As some of you may be aware, Burning Man has sold out for the first time in history this year!

Therefore it would be a downright shame if only one of them could attend, given that he is not a very good driver at all! It would also be kinda frightening to go to a festival of that stature by yourself as well.

If anyone, somehow some way has an extra ticket to burning man, please let me know.

[email protected]

This is my birthday wish for this year (it's my b'day today, but that is a completely unrelated topic).

Crazy, They actually warned in their email lists a while back that they wouldn't be selling tickets at the gate - glad we got ours a while back.

Looks like there are some mega expensive tix on ebay - here is a guide on buying tickets from third parties - http://tickets.burningman.com/#buysell

How hard would it be to just hike it in there under the cover of darkness, would be hard to get lost being on a flat desert and all, just have to head towards the lights!

Hike in the desert with enough food and water to last for 7 days?

Some more info:
TICKETS

Lots of craziness this week, what with the announcement that event
tickets have sold out out and all. Despite all warnings, many didn't
expect this, or have contingency plans. So now we scramble,
strategize and galvanize.

Some perspective:
http://blog.burningman.com/2011/07/part ... rscarcity/

Please, whatever you do, do NOT pay "one meeeeeelllion dollars."
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/ti ... 15968.html

Also, don't believe what you're hearing about tickets selling for
$1500+ on eBay right now. Nearly all of those auctions are being
poisoned by fake bidders (go, prankster burners.) Hopefully, the
unintended consequence of those pranks is that more folks will feel
inspired to put their tickets out for sale right away. It's my hunch
that in about a week's time, we'll see the aftermarket flooded with
tickets being offloaded by sad people who just can't make the trip
after all. With supply (even the perception of such) going up in this
rather frictionless market place, the real-world asking/selling prices
are bound go down. This is, quite literally, the only thing I
remember from Economics 101.

So... spread the word amongst friends and your network that you're
still seeking tickets. Share news within our circle when you find
leads. Stay focused and persistent. Maybe we can share a document
online so we can all cooperate on this?

NY/LA/SF have a very noisy marketplace right now. You may want to
check these sites, they let you search ALL CRAIGSLISTS in EVERY CITY,
all at once:
http://www.craiggers.com/
http://www.allofcraigs.com/
http://www.crazedlist.org/

However, please, if you're forced to handle this transaction through
the mail, beware of counterfeits and scams. There have already been
reported cases of folks (specifically in L.A.) getting ripped off by
douchebags. Read more so you know what a genuine ticket looks like.
Try to have any transactions handled in person.
