Okay i need some help.

Looking at getting a camera, i want one that takes sick photos but i dont think i really need an DSLR.

So I went to the camera shop today and was recommended either;

Canon powershot S90 or the Panasonic TZ-7

what do all you camera nerds think or should i get something else?

wondering if anyone can help me too.

am going on my roadtrip honeymoon in the US in april/may and want a decent camera to take pics of it with as all the pics i take on the powershot are a bit blah.

have narrowed down to 2 cameras through naive research

The Olympus e-620 - http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_secti ... oduct=1452

The Nikon D90 - http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon ... 6/D90.html

Does anyone have either of these cameras or have an opinion on what is better. Both appear to be around the 1300-1500 range which seems pretty standard for a new, entry level or thereabouts camera with a lens.

Get the Nikon. I'm sure the Olympus is good, but the Nikon is a Nikon.

So now both my housies have the G11 I'm gagging for one.
I'll be going through KL in June on the way to Vietnomnom and thinking that it might be cheaper to buy it there rather than in 'straya.
What say you? Better to buy here for warranty etc, or ok to get o/s?

chances are it wont be. i wanted a lumix LX3 whilst i was over there...priced them in the shops (in KL) then jumped online and they were $10 cheaper in KL but you dont get an Asutralian warranty.

yeah, most high-end consumer electronics aren't much cheaper OS... barring maybe Hong Kong, which is only because they are usually all made in China, so the distributers don't have the shipping costs of other places (I'm guessing)

g10 is 14 megapixels compared to g11's 9.7, g10 doesn't have the flip out lcd, and doesn't perform quite as well in low light conditions, other than that, mostly the same...

oli and those guys will know the answer to this GK. i'm not sure

buy a panasonic lumix LX3 like mine- it keeps on delivering. we take that everywhere and leave the big canon at home. it's been superseded!

i just read the specs on the canon G11 and i want one now badly. i carried my big camera around for a bit o/s and then ended up just using my old Nikon cos i was getting weighed down by the biggin. this canon G11 sounds like it would be well handy for traveling and taking it out and about
