I don't know much about saddles... other than the fact that my current one hurts.

Getting my new bike next Wednesday!!! (if all goes well with shipping, customs, store etc...)

another thing i should've mentioned...........

don't rule out a saddle as uncomfortable before you've messed around with adjusting the position

move it a tiny amount, like a mm at a time.......you'd be amazed at the massive difference a seemingly insignificant adjustment can make

If you're keen, a few weeks from now me and a mate are gonna do a stretch of the Great Ocean Road including the Skenes Creek Road climb......only downer is we're doing it on a Wednesday so I guess you'd be working

Failing that, I'll contact you between now and then to tee up another ride......need to get some more kms in me legs before I hit the coastal roads I reckon.......did I hear you say The Wall ptII?

hey mate, yeah Wednesday is a work day for me...

Definitely up for another venture up the wall. I should have the new bike next week, but I'm heading up to the homeland (Shep) that weekend for Mum's Day, and a ride... maybe the weekend after? (14th-15th May).

Climbed the Devil's Elbows yesterday. Ferntree Gully to Tremont

Tough going. Legs were screaming, almost felt like i was going backwards in parts

Sketchy descent too. Couldn't get comfortable. Lots of water on the road where creeks run under it and in some bits it sat at an awkward cambur making braking at high speed a harrowing experience

Haha na man it was awesome. That particular climb gets you to the highest point of Mt Dandenong. All the sooking was worth it

Humevale Rd today

Very gentle climb. Descent from hell though. Road bumpy as and loose gravel. Also road only wide enough for one vehicle and shitloads of blind hairpins

The country up there is breathtakingly beautiful. When i settle down i wanna live there i reckon. Haha whittlesea is so wrongtown though. Aus version of twin peaks tbh

Coburg to flin st station. Not sure how far that is but i think it usually takes me a bit over 20mins. That's peak hour mind you.....if i do it when the roads are empty and hammer it i can get it done in 15

just measured on googlemaps about 14km each way - takes around 40 mins peak time
tried so many different routes and cant get it any faster

considering the bus/tube/train takes 1 hr minimum at best and costs 6 pounds a day its a pretty good option especially in summer

I guess in melbs though you can tough it out with a good jacket, some fenders and a pair of overshoes

I've never been to Europe, but I'd imagine there'd be dark periods during winter that would be enough to scare even the most hardcore commuter of his or her bike

I know when I was in Tokyo there were nights when it would snow flat out and leave a deadly sheen of ice all over the road/footpath the following morning. Not exactly ideal riding conditions

Unless of course you've got one of these

a combination of the long darks, the black ices, the white ices and the large amount of gear i need to carry around on my back etc pretty much make it teh unenviable option.

I like the capitol city trail for running. From our place to Collingwood childrens farm and back is a nice 11km.

pretty sweet track.

yep, i run down park st middle bit and follow that down to the train station, then duck under the train station and jump on capiol city trail down to collingwood childrens farm sometimes a bit farther and then turn back and head home.

If you feel like a decent hill you can go round from the farm to Gipps St, cross the bridge and come up Yarra Boulevard then duck back at the top down to the boathouse and round the river to Dights falls.

We do that, it's awesome.

I've run past the childrens farm and the convent a few times but i find eventually the track ends and you hit those steps attached to the bridge.

being a smartarse... riding with no hands and turning corners/weaving through bollards in docklands. We were basically seeing who could do it the best. I was winning until that moment.. handlebar jack-knife fail

i always feel sketchy as when i take my hands off the bars

often go for the euro pro no hands/unzip jersey/take a bite of muesli bar and put it back in pocket manouvre........pretty much get the wobbles every time

goodtimes this morning.

5kms into my ride and I get hit by a car. I'm riding up Plenty Rd in Bundoora, it's dark, but I'm on a white bike, with a big white top on, 3 lights and some reflective strips... dude pulls out slowly from shopping centre - I think he's just going to edge out slowly and stop, but keeps going. I brake, swerve - collect him and go flying over the handle bars.

not too much damage to me thankfully, but fuck - my new bike! only third ride on it... STI levers all grazed and bent, marks on my carbon forks etc., buckled wheel, hole in the elbow of my fairly new long sleeve top.

the guy was pretty nice about it all, but doesn't have insurance. I hope I'm not out of pocket on this, I still owe just under $3k on the bike.

nasty! hope you can sort out some kind of payment from the guy. lucky that you didn't get smashed up.
