I nearly put down a deposit on a 360 the other day, but decided i'll wait a bit. Fuck it's gonna be good, the launch titles are sick and there's heaps coming out soon after.

errr, you realise the Revolution will be backwards compatible all the way to NES? albeit with their online download service.

errr, you realise the Revolution will be backwards compatible all the way to NES? albeit with their online download service.

I don't have a media center setup in the lounge and would like the Revolution for that purpose also, so not really wanting to buy a GC.

Even though they are insanely cheap atm.

Fair cop. All I can say is that Nintendo are really gonna have to make the Rev good, or I doubt they will be making any more consoles. The only reason I bought a GC was for Zelda (2nd hand, $50, with the game... BARGAIN!!!), but they gonna have to have some proper dope titles and 3rd parties on board to make me buy one.

think I saw on digg today, revolution will be released with smash bros. for free; and there are reports the heads at Nintendo Japan are saying the xbox360 will be outsold by the Revolution

...no reports about the PS3 though

thing about nintendo...they really dont give a shit about anywhere apart from japan. and in japan they still kick ass as people love all the random little games we dont get here. they are going strong and will do for ages to come. maybe not in the US or AUS. but they dont care.

personally i want all 3.

I've posted this somewhere before, but another problem with Nintendo is their refusal to make games that aren't specifically family-oriented.

The most adult game (IMO) available to play on a nintendo console is Resident Evil 4, but its the ONLY game of that genre available.

Aside from that, Nintendo needs to pick up its technology game. Whilst Sony and MS are busy trumpeting the powerful hardware behind their latest and greatest, Nintendo has remained silent. The Gamecube was a pitifully underpowered system compared to the Xbox and even the PS2 (even though the PS2 is a year older).

Yeah. I was nintendo from the flip-open Donkey cong, thru nes and snes (super mario cart... how good??!!), but despite mario 64 giving me motion sickness from playing so much, there really wasn't much else on offer. Gave up, switched to xbox. Am glad. Blood. violence. Killing things. 'Nuff said.

I got mates from back when I was in the video game industry, and there's one guy in particular that's got the dev kits for 360 and PS3, and he's saying that PS3 will shit all over Microsoft....again...well, we dont know yet, but Sony's hardware is better, it all depends on how it's marketed.

The Sony name has a lot of trust, and the sheer originality that's come out on that console was amazing.

GTA, Ico, Rez (okay, DC first...but it got there

), Frequency, Amplitude, Katamari Damacy, Shadow of the Colossus, God Of War, Devil May Cry (1+3 are the only ones worth talking about...), Eyetoy, Singstar, Buzz. The technical difference between the ps3 and 360 isn't that great.
Especially considering the 360 is a lot easier to develop for, which will make a huge difference.
Also, 2nd gen games are going to be coming out on the 360 by the time the ps3 is launched and Sony don't have anything close to the new xbox live.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is.. don't hold out for the ps3.

Halo 3 is in development and should come out sometime around March next year.
Bill Gates is hoping for a release at the same time as the PS3.

Even if Sony's hardware is better, MS may have a slight advantage still - namely the fact that the console will have been out for a year by the time PS3 debuts. Remember that this was also the case with the PS2 and the Xbox (as in, the PS2 had the market to itself for a year, and the Xbox had problems gaining a foothold, even with superior hardware). It is true, however, that Sony will go all out with their marketing for the PS3.

Admittedly, MS isn't exactly reknowned for their originality when it comes to games (namely because Sony has access to most of the primo jap developers). I'm not looking forward to seeing dozens of PC ports, episodes in the GTA series or more Dead or Alive games. MS can't keep pegging the success of it's consoles on a few killer apps (i.e Halo, DOA).

mm... i've never been a massive fan of the Elder Scrolls series. I love RPGs but Morrowind started off really slowly. By the time the plot actually got somewhere I was bored with the game. The character development system wasn't my cup of tea (maybe i've been spoilt by too many Bioware games). Visually, the game looks f*kn spectacular.

What amuses me is Sony's "online" plan, of which there is none. Microsoft have it in the bag.

They're going to be first on the market which is a big edge, and you're going to see much better titles coming out for it sooner than you would on PS3 simply because Sony have never made a console that is simple to develop for. You look at the first PS2 games came out and they look as bad as PSX games. Some of the launch Xbox titles looked amazing. And I know it's not all about graphics, but sex sells.

All I have to say is "Enough with the pre-rendered graphic sequences that look a thousand times better than the gameplay." Always used to shit me with the original Playstation how the best graphics were in the bits between stages that went on for minutes, where you're not doing anything. I could just rent a video if I wanted that. Want to impress me? Make the real-time graphics better.

Xbox games played on the Xbox 360 will be enhanced in a couple of ways.
First, every game will be upscaled to 720p and 1080i, so if you have an HDTV your Xbox games are going to look even better than ever.
The other way it will look better is that it will take advantage of anti-aliasing which will produce a much sharper picture than was possible on the Xbox.

The only drawbacks are that you have to download a software emulator for each game.
Be it threw xbox live or downloading it from the site and burning it to cd.
Also, not all games are supported.

Here's the list of the current xbox games that will run on the xbox 360.
