it takes a certain kind of personality to make an asshole, its almost an exclusively male term also, so who are the notable holes and why? what makes for one over a prick or a d*ck-head, or even a b*tch? I struggle to think of many - perhaps only people I've actually met, bosses and the like...

yes it is. that isn't to say that I agree with his policies or actions, but what is specifically assholish about them? incompenency isn't the same thing for example.

just being conservative or puritanical doesn't make you an asshole either,

I think with abbot or bush, the sort of thing to qualify would be restricting access to birth and abortion control. that fits the bill in my mind...
