Sanity is obviously more authorative than I've ever given them credit for.
all I know is what the DJs who recorded them told me. there's even a funny story about the gig that Blame recorded his set at, which was up in Manchester. I'll leave that for another thread.

best set
first and foremost the one that did it was DJ Unity at global village but before that right back in the eighties almost a guy named ADRIAN AGE came over and did a set at one of the first parties in Melb, part of Richard and Heidi of earlier than mud productions run of ground breakin parties of that era. I got a tape of a set he did at Labyrinth in London and it is still the apbsolute cream . High Contrast got close the first time but anyone who was packed into that revolting Chapel st venue the first time he played would realize he went 4x4 half way thru his set, this and all those chapal st shirts off guys rubbin up behind you as you tried to dance was just toooooo much.
Sorry i get to the end of the thread and question as to whether they have to be recorded? Because if not then..
Phace @ Kings of the Jungle earlier this year. It is damn shame it wasn't recorded because it is one of the best sets i have ever heard. And i have heard a few in my lifetime. This set reminded me of the first few times i heard jungle despite being completly opposite in their sounds, vibe, arrangements and ideas. The future of the tek sound is very fucked up indeed.
Another set that i cant stop playing at the moment is the Corrupt Souls live recording from Spain. No, it hasnt got the latest dubs and the most obscure tunes and bullshit like that. All it is is pure, no nonsense, tough drum and bass. Cheeky in parts, sinister in others and straight up black in others, when turned up really loud this set has mad energy and switches. I cant wait to hear any part of the Corrupt Souls live. I personally think that the only venue they could play here in Melbourne is the Hi Fi Bar. expensive i know, but it would be the only place dedicated enough to the sound. Not that i am dropping any hints guys...

Hello all....first time poster....been lurking since drum n bass finally, completely, and forever grabbed my balls 2 months ago courtesy of THIS John B live set that I stumbled across:
http://www.johnbvideoblog.co.uk/JohnB_L ... 09_Pt1.mp3
http://www.johnbvideoblog.co.uk/JohnB_L ... 09_Pt2.mp3
So seeing as how no style of music has ever quite captured me in the way that dnb has recently (and I'm a muso kinda person who has been playing/producing all kinds of music for years, so I've always loved ALL kinds of music), then I guess that has to be my favourite mix ever.
His August studio mix is pretty cool too.
In fact, I think John B is my new God.
Ok. Nice to meet you.
Back to lurking for me.
(although I'm sure I'll be bumping into you all.....if I haven't done that already on the dancefloor @ Dieselboy anyway....at some dnb night in the future! Ohhhhhh god damn it...this dnb business can't be good for ones health....I think even my brain is pumping at 170bpm lately... )

Was it 2003 or 2004??
Anyway I was there and that was just farkin madness. What a set, in the top 3 all time gigs, concerts, whatever the fark live in the way of the audio.
The man is the best thing to come from the brazilian strain of homo sapiens along with Sepultura!!!!!
It's weird....I've always listened to and really liked a bit of dnb, but just found so much of it to be....boring and kinda pointless. (unless you're wasted...) But John B in particular seems to produce and spin stuff that I love and enjoy listening to anywhere anytime......I guess I like the whole 80's-fun-pop kinda spin on it all....(which is weird seeing as I'm not that big an 80s-fun-pop kinda fan) ...and also being a producer myself, I love the slick production in a lot of the stuff he spins/produces. In fact, it was actually an old John B song I found buried on some compilation (the song was 'Summertime') that kickstarted this whole dnb obssession I have now. That song got me searching for more John B, which led me to his website and the mix I mentioned above, which, after hunting/buying/importing/downloading as much dnb as I possibly can over the past 2 months, is still my favourite mix ever.system wrote:if you like that, mate.. you've got a huge world to explore. heaps to find and enjoy.
But you're absolutely right....I'm finding new dnb every day that I love. (and a lot that is shite as well I should add...!)
I think this is definitely a one-way journey!
