Can prolly has some sort of travel-money-debit-card thingo. Travelex and similar do pre-loaded cards - I'm sure they would let you load it up with USD now (how much they will charge you to keep it there for a while is another question...)

so should i buy USD now while its downish?

I don't think it'll recover too soon.
but it will fluctuate up and down for a while.
maybe buy if it gets to 1.05
but other than that, who knows.
I'd say you won't be able to assume the U$ will go back up soon.

Here is XE's AUD vs USD for the past year. You can change the currencies, timeframe, etc.

Argh so jealous! Which NGO does she work for? I'll give her tips if she gets me a job. :P

There's a club called The Basement (under hotel Samilton on Sarat Bose Rd) that often has decent beats on weekends. Almost became part of the furniture.

There are a few clubs/bars at the Park Hotel complex on Park St. Someplace Else often has live music during the week and open mic nights from time to time.

If she's staying around dirty old Sudder St she should check out the Fairlawn Hotel (thurs nights my NGO has a handicrafts stall which is worth a look). Good beer garden and cheapish beer. There's Blue & Beyond on Lindsay St opposite New Market which is a wicked rooftop bar. Also, Urban Desi which also has a rad balcony bar and shisha pipes...cheaper than B&B. It's on Camac St above Fort Knox mall.

Umm, I could go. If she has any more questions pm me. I could rabbit on forever. Now I'm secondhomesick!

They vary wildly these days. Depending when you travel, prices can hike by $2k :tard:. Qantas has a <$1k sale going to promote their new Dallas route - travel in May, I think? Not really doing much of a job of promoting DFW, though, since LAX is also on sale and cheaper...

Where/when you goin'??

$800 return to bangers is standard imo.

pffft.

consider yourself lucky you ever got the prices you did last year.

in the future air travel is gonna be only for the mega rich imho. and tbh, its bad for the environment for all us middle class people jetting all over at a moments notice so perhaps not such a bad thing.

You can has. You just have to fly in May.

The price wars have only ever brought the non-peak flights down. Over Christmas, AU - US flights have still been up around $3k. Why I always visit in winter, let me show you. (Well, that, and the 3 months off.)

It is worth seeing Bo. There are some other bits and pieces to see in the area but really Alice is the only place to stay with in coooeeee of the rock. It really is in the middle of nowhere.
