Saw Smokin Aces 2 sat night. Not bad, same layout as the first one, different charaters. Was fun to watch.

Finally got around to seeing Milk too. Fuck, what a fantastic film! I thought that was rad and WELL deserved of a best film award. Sean Penn is a total legend.

Which award are you talking about?

It was only nominated for an Academy Award.

Penn won the best actor last year for it, yes. Although I think Frank Langella (sp?) did a better job in Frost/Nixon.

Slumdog won the Oscar for Best Film. Overrated IMO.

Has anyone seen 'It'll be a better tomorrow" the movie about Hubert Selby Jnr?

Over teh weekend I watched:

Shutter Island - Very predictable, but also quite good. Well shot and Di Caprio was good in it.

The Lovely Bones - Could have been fantastic but was unfortunately utterly shithouse. Great acting is the only thing I can say really. It's like it was started by one person, then finished by another.

For those who don't know, it's a period drama about this guy who gets tortured while his mum watches

agree with both statements.

Leo is a good actor, but the last few years he has the same strained expression on his face and well, he just aint hot anymore.
I had no idea what this was about, and so I did really like the storyline.

Lovely bones made the book look like schlock. the book was awesome.

I fell asleep during 'hurt locker' on the weekend. Propaganda thinly veiled. Stil one of the better war films on the current situation though.

Also - accidentally watched 'Sorority Row' last night. worst flick ever. horror based around a sorority, i dont need to say anything else. I felt dirty at the end.

Many of the actresses have moved from being a little innocent girl to freaky drunken sorority sister. One of these is Margo Harshman who was only a few years ago running after Shia LeBeouf in Even Stevens. Gathering momentum and becoming the biggest 'sister' in this film. She delivered a masterpiece performance in her small on screen part including freaking out a potential 'partner'.
Man I love IMDB reviews.

Saw them both recently too. Shutter island was ok. Felt it dragged a bit tho.

Lovely bones was tripe. Really bad movie. Totally agree with your comments.
Im interested to read the book now tho, cause it seemed to have alot of potential!

Watched Surrogates tonight. So many holes I don't know where to begin. ok, how about here...why is it that if you had a choice to change your appearance you wouldn't go waaaay out there? All the robots were hot and sexy (is that meant to be an indictment on the human condition?). For example, why weren't the cops and bodyguards 7 feet tall and built like brick shithouses, wouldn't that be the first choice...to make yourself an extreme(r) version of yourself or what you were? And why was everthing else so Vanilla Sky futuristic but the cars and helicopters were exactly the same. And why was there only two sides to the story...either you were totally gungho about having a surrogate or you were a rebellious Dread giving up every kind of technology to become some kind of hippy.

6 outta 10 for effort and the skin effects were cool but I'm tired of movies that fall over to make room for special effects.

I'm bored.

it was a smart shit film if that makes sense. I liked the moral stance taken more than anything.
