World Cup 2014

Post by DBoy »

Think about this at least 10 times a day.

If Viduka can carry this form (he scored again last night to take Boro into the UEFA Final) I think we may be a chance to get through first round.

His size against the Japanese could be a major factor.

what is TV coverage like here in australia? In canada it is prime time regardless of what time it is, people get out to the sportsbars and pubs.

will foxtel carry games or will I have to go out?

Pumped to see the boys out here next week. Appearing at Fed[] on Moday arvo + the game. Tickets in hand! 8)

All this talk about Cahill and Kewell. They'll both play, no worries.

SBS is playing it all live!! Word.

I'm hella excited!!!!

Melbourne is a special place during the World Cup, seeing all the ethnic areas celebrate or riot after a game. After the last final, I remember watching 500 brazilians dancing on Smith st around a cop car in 3am in June. There were chicks with Bikini's on!!

Its lucky Australia dont have Italy or Greece in their Pool!

Here's the world cup times in excel format for those that are interested.

http://www.straypixels.net/files/WorldC ... meZone.xls

Also, I believe Sydney is one hour ahead of us, so Judes times are correct.

can't wait for the world cup this tme round, esp as there is actually interest in it here at last...

Already resigned to my team being crap when the crunch comes as usual, esp without our boy wonder... Mr delicate feet.

Will be watching Australia with much interest.... my fave on the team has to be Bresciano... I reckon he will be the standout for Australia... forget Viduka (too slow) and Kewell (too lazy, oh we're losing I"m injured, better get off the pitch, etc..).

What are you talking about?
Apples and oranges, they are our 2 strikers... one of which might not be fit. Can Bresciano be a playmaker?
huh

Brazil $2.85
Germany $7.00
England $8.50
Italy $9.00
Argentina $10.00
France $13.00
Holland $13.00
Spain $20.00
Portugal $28.00
Czech Republic $41.00
Sweden $51.00

Over 95,000 tickets have now been allocated to the game, with Australian and Greek fans coming together to provide a fitting send off for the World Cup bound Socceroos, and create a record for the refurbished MCG.
Got my tickets here. Pumped. 95 000+ at the G. Will be sick.

If we manage to get out of the pool stage (in 2nd), our 1st elimination opponent will be Italy (providing they win their pool), i think...

Pfft, Shepherd, you're such a bandwagon jumper. I'll be sitting with my hardcore/every weekend we're in Dandenong playing Mauritians/get up at 4am for the Intertoto Cup mates in the cheap seats.

Still, at this point the more the merrier - it's good for the sport!

Not sure if I can be assed making the Fed Square trip.

Most likely on the couch at home with a few cold ones, a couple of hot ones and the SBS inside the ride.

Reports please anyone who went last night.

How was a sold out G? Good vibes? Angry mobs (i know there weren't, but it would have made for an interesting story), Flares going off, Booze, Women??

Game seemed a little flat after the Oz goal. Greece didn't seem all that in the game at any point.

Oh well, Australia won. Good for morale leading up to the World Cup i suppose.

I missed the goal :(

Great to be sitting in a packed MCG ... game was a bit flat but I'm not really much of a soccer expert.

Lots of flares. No trouble from what I saw.

Greece were terrible.

We probably could have had another 2 goals late in the 1st if it weren't from dodgy Greek foul's, there was a blatant shirt-pull on Viduka and another dude had his legs taken from under him.

Fantastic to come away with a win though.

Netherlands are going to be tough!

huh???

strikers are not all about pace, Viduka (come on you big man) has strength, abilty and makes so many plays happen. Kewell - while a form slump when he first joined Liverpool, has started to find the twinkle toes of old, not back to his best but well on his way.....

Marco Bresciano, is good, but he will def be no where near enough for Australia against World Cup sides, even Greece did not give us (although they did pick up in the 2nd half but hte first half they were lazy and asleep) a good enough view of world cup standard of game play. They were not a shadow of the Euro Champions....

Now the Netherlands there will be a testing match....

but to rule out viduka and Kewell ???? Frankly without them we would be in trouble, while they are not the whole side they are a very important part.

My heart does go out to Tony Vidmar tho... :(

Citizen Smif - yes it was a friendly and no, people do not want to injure themselves however it is a very crucial time to get ourselves to where we want to be for the first match of the World Cup, and as such you DO play to a certain level, while of course you will not contest as hard you still have a game to paly and win.

Besides whst did Greece have to loose? They were nothing like the team that won Europe, That team would NEVER have won Europe Champions

WOW! Anyone else watch last night. I must say I was nervous after that first goal, but think that we did a great job in adjusting to be able to hold them down. Guus is a legend in his own right for sure.
