Heh, I worked uni admin as my casual gig during undergrad. Now I'm on the other side it's pretty lol to see other academics soooo confused that I manage to complete basic tasks. If the photocopier jams, they just leave it and run away.

It has made it very very very infuriating having shithouse admin people here, though

Academics are useless at most things outside of their writing and research. Working with philosophers was total lol, if not immensely infuriating. Now I'm working with pretty switched on people, directors of think tanky kind of places...and they still have no idea.

Also, on the useless note, it astounds me how many school teachers cannot write to save themselves. God forbid my kids are ever at their mercy!

people who have been using windows xp for 10 years and and computers for probably 15, still have no idea what you are talking about when you ask them to click the start button or the difference between monitor and computer, difference between log off and reboot, how to change their password.

not limited to computers tho. not able to plug into and turn on a projector is one of my pet peeves.

my massive peeve here is how to format a letter or even write one properly. One partner was using semi-colons to start a bullet list, and then colons to end each bullet. I thought it was one letter, but it kept happening. Well awkward to correct someone who is 20 years my senior.

i just got sent this email -

"Next Wednesday is we have a Federal Budget Breakfast in the morning and the majority of the team will be up all night preparing the for the event the next morning. Some team members have suggested that presenting material at lunch time is unlikely to happen."
