Code Monkies

Post by lynt »

Hello World.

So who here is a code monkey for crust? I know there are a lot of cats who work in IT, but it would be nice to know who has their head deep in a world of syntax.

I can say for sure myself, lucas, system and mellogs are code freaks.. but who else lurking out there is into it?

Web isn't harder than non-web.

good damn thats a hoooge image :o

definately not up to the standard of money making, but know javascript, html & xml, some php and mysql, ... and flash (actionscripting) for design and shizzle.

mainly web-based coding, not really into coding for software apps.

No, install it on a host, for secure online transactions etc etc.. seems easy, I just think my host is being difficult

lyntwah, like I said - it's easy (especially under Apache :)). just get your host to pull there finger(s) out and get the SSL resolving correctly. having the right directives would work wonders too.

HTH :)

I'd like to apologise for what follows.

Code: Select all

int childpid = fork();
int whattodo = 0;
struct tm tm;

if (childpid == 0) {
  /* child -- fuck off and do something interesting for a while. */
  head_out(CATCH_DNB);
  play_console(CONSOLE_ANY);
  sleep(60 * 60 * 10);
else {
  /* parent -- wage slave */
  for (tm = localtime(gettimeofday()); (tm.tm_hour >=  9) && (tm.tm_hour < 17); tm = localtime(gettimeofday()))
    hack();
}

i used to work for a web host and there shouldnt be much too ssl lynt. unless your trying to come up with an algorithm for the certificate yourself - haha i doubt it . any script you code that works on a non https server will work over a secure connection. most of the problems with our clients would arise when they have shit accounts and use a shared 128bit certificate. the shared cert would be on a server different to the clients root folders and hence database connections would not work, as dbs cannot be accessed over a network path.

im not sure if the same problem would arise on a linux/apache setup but it used to on server 2003/iis 6 (omg i cant believe i used be to be an admin fo that shit!)

as far as the initial question goes. yeah im a nerd

java
php
asp
cold fusion
vb
sql
xml

its not ma job...but was till i moved here and went back to uni. what was i thinking!?

whoever said they did perl, man kudos, that shit is hardcore.

i just read the whole post and you would be surprised, but there is quite a lot of fucking round to get a ssl cert installed in IIS and resolve it to the correct domain/folders. it used to take me about an hour and that was only if the client had all the correct details. any host should be able to do it tho. lynt, you got admin access to a dedicated server...or just a standard account on a shared server?

aslo what OS is it running?

It's all well and good for unix, but how is a person supposed multitask dnb, consoles and sleep with work concurrently?
