Midi Controller with Traktor
Midi Controller with Traktor
So I bought Flippo's M Audio midi controller.
I'm trying to get it to work with Traktor and it isn't immediately obvious to me how to do it.
Traktor comes with a whole bunch of standard templates to use in conjunction with standard supported controllers but this model isn't one of them (M-Audio X Session).
Anybody know how to map a general midi controller to Traktor to enable fun x a billion?

just jump on NI website and download the correct .tks files for your controller.

Re: Midi Controller with Traktor
manually doing it is better, you get to know it as you do it.
i don't bother anymore tho really, kontrol x1 kinda removes the need for the korg nano i was using.
in controller mappings (i think in the newest version, used to be separate keyboard/midi sections)...
choose what function you want (like play), focus (ie. Deck A), then hit Learn and bash a button on your midi controller or twiddle a knob etc. done

Re: Midi Controller with Traktor
ok so this took a bit of play with but got there in the end. it's certainly easier to just write your own template.
one thing I didn't realise is that you can run multiple templates at once, I thought you needed one that covers everything. Once i worked that out it fell into place.

Re: Midi Controller with Traktor
yeah. its good too if u have a controller with multiple "scenes" or whatever, used to have scene1 on korg micro as effects controls/filter etc and scene2 for internal mixer controls, eqs, cueing etc.
another good thing i do is put small roudn coloured stickers on diff parts of the controller to help jog my memory re: mappings
and also on clear keyboard-protector skin thing - really doesnt matter that there's no serato-style skin cos make your own mappings up and put stickerz on!

I have had the good fortune to be loaned one of these over the weekend....

seriously awesome bit of kit...
It does pretty much everything I need/want and not much that I don't. The best bit (for me) is that it's not trying to be a mixer as well. Most controller interfaces shit me for this reason. I play out regularly and the ease of setup is a mega win, also the way it fits onto a 1200 is amazing.
Plus points..

Plus points..
- no need to unplug/plug in sound card, turntables, etc etc
- looks awesome
- control both decks with one controller
- intergrated mouse control
- mimicks control style of already familiar CDJ1000
- light weight yet very sturdy
- touch pad pitch control sux (I may get used to it)
- some of the buttons are too close together and too close to the platter (keeping in mind they are touch sensitive)
- there are two buttons that I have no idea what they do
- jog wheel feels a little "light", needs a resistance adjustment (like CDJ1000)

Traktor Scratch Duo
currently using control vinyl.... I love playing the vinyl, works beautifully at home. I HATE playing it out at gigs, I've had soooo many issues with bad setups. I think this thing may be the answer to my problems.

Re: Midi Controller with Traktor
Simulating mlr with 4 decks in Traktor.
Although if the buttons are assigned to cue/play instead of cue/pause, there should be no need to hold the buttons down.

Re: Midi Controller with Traktor
