can't do much fishing around wilsons prom, marine park. I recon it's only good if you walk around, tidal river is a bit annoying and touristy, sure its nice but it cant touch sealers cove etc. Can't go past grampians if you want to forgo the fishing. go to www.parks.vic.gov.au, that will sort you out.
Hi Quick,
Theres a little beach called bear gully down near warkerville nth way, fishings allowed(i'll check if you need a permit, if so you just pay like 10 bucks at a servo and that covers you), dogs are allowed(on leash), fires OK, and at this time of year it's fairly quiet, some mates went down a few weeks ago b4 the holidays and they were the only ones there. Its a pretty cool place to mellow out, we've also taken the genny and decks and shit and had a bash down there. You can still get away with a fair bit of shit, but come summer it's packed and ther's a ranger ther 24-7 so it's sort of like the prom.
Anyway have a good weekend.

it's near Walkerville, which is to the west of Wilson's Prom (over Waratah Bay). it's very close to my folk's holiday house.betson wrote:Hi Quick,

Sorry mate it's wilson's prom way, about 2-1/2 hours sth of melbourne. it also helps if I spell it right WALKERVILLE, if you type that into the whereis.com.au website you'll get the general idea. If you decide to go there you can drop in at leongatha and I'll sort you out some directions / a cuppa. I just had a quick look and couldn't really find anything map wise to bear gully.quick wrote:cheers, but I have no idea where that is, any more info?betson wrote:Hi Quick,

Cheers again, you live in Leongatha, I got a couple of mates that I haven't seen in ages from there, Steve and his brother Dave, can't even remember their last names. I know Dave is a baker.betson wrote:Sorry mate it's wilson's prom way, about 2-1/2 hours sth of melbourne. it also helps if I spell it right WALKERVILLE, if you type that into the whereis.com.au website you'll get the general idea. Cumberland River. 10 or so kms past Lorne, wonderfully quiet campground that rests between two cliffs. Kangaroos, foxes and kookaburras cruise around of an evening and early in the morning, plus each site has a halved 44 gallon drum for fires - wicked spot.quick wrote:I'm thinking (definitely want to go fishing) Otway National Park, Aire river, or Appollo bay... never been that area, any one else?

why not just get a room at a swish hotel in the city with your mrs or a random from somehwere, get all the cushions, matresses and blankets, make a fort in your room, order room service and go at it ike rabbits! The weather farked this weekend anyways. Then go down to the aquarium for a look at the fishys!

hmm... $$$ a problem there, plus getting away from it all is the main reason...Arex wrote:why not just get a room at a swish hotel in the city, get all the cushions, matresses and blankets, make a fort in your room, order room service and go at it ike rabbits! yeah I know about needing to get away from melb every now and then, used to go to Mansfield every month or so just to get a fresh perspective on things, it really reset the mind. Well there's tonnes of great spots suggested here, my faves include Wilsons Prom and also Apollo Bay. Or if you're really stuck for a decision let a flip of a coin decide?quick wrote:hmm... $$$ a problem there, plus getting away from it all is the main reason...Arex wrote:why not just get a room at a swish hotel in the city, get all the cushions, matresses and blankets, make a fort in your room, order room service and go at it ike rabbits! Theres a few couches to camp on at Ace Morning, plenty of beers to fish from the bar, and ist situated nice sheltered area on Sydney Rd with plenty of cover if the weather turns nasty. Plus theres no huling park rangers roaming the area. Could be e good option, if you change your mind, you could catch up with me, lex, hugh n vinnie... we're gonna head out that way to get away from it all.quick wrote:Sorry Hughbert...
