PQM & Danny Bonnicci (Nubreed) @ QC & MM Xmas Shindi
Had to pump this one up a little - it's gunna be a quality little xmas shindig!!
Ladies & Gentlemen....
After a hugely successful launch party, the Quality Control team return to deliver their monthly repertoire of breaks, beats, house, electro, techno and progressive at Melbourne’s newest and popular venue, The Playpen.
With a night of agnostic and carefully selected music, Quality Control strives to expand the popularity of dance music culture by proving that good music is the essence of a good night. By fusing together an array of styles, Quality Control aims to achieve a night with good music without having to be genre specific.
With its focus on supporting Australian acts in a quality environment, with quality people and quality music, Quality Control once again delivers the goods for Xmas with not one, but two headline acts. So on December 16th, Playpen and Q.C. will host New York ex. patriot PQM, performing a 3 hour Hip Hop to Breaks and House showcase, whilst Danny Bonnici will perform his inaugural Ableton Live performance.
Having started as a quick witted teenage turntablist, PQM (Quick) was a hot asset to the 90’s New York Hip Hop Scene. With works that include the infamous ‘Cracker Beats’ and having his legacy continue with such luminaries sampling his beats as Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Coombs, A Tribe Called Quest and the Notorious B.I.G., then it becomes no wonder that Quick’s skills as a producer became notoriously BIG in their own right! Twelve years later and PQM has evolved from Hip Hop to House, Breaks and even Rock ‘n Roll, collaborating with such diverse artists as Deep Dish, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, Gloria Estefan, Faith No More, BT, Phil K, Nubreed and many others.
Dubbed ’The purveyor of darkness with Soul’ by Roger Sanchez, PQM will bring to the Q.C. magnifying glass a classic to contemporary mash up of Hip Hop, House and Breaks over 3 hours, showcasing new material from his forthcoming album and performing exclusively in the loft.
As a Christmas bonus to those on the night, Quality Control will also present a world first, when Nubreed lead singer Danny Bonnici steps up to the console! Performing a DJ set using Ableton live in conjunction with a Pioneer DJM-909 Mixer and tweaking known records with additional pads and effects, the stage will be set for one of the most unique experiences of 2005.
Bonnici has had a long list of collaborations and releases that span nearly a decade. Involved with Australia’s premier breaks act Nubreed and a major influence in shaping the global breaks scene, Danny’s voice is known to many through such records as ‘Oblivion’, ‘One Day’ and most notably ‘Welcome’. Having worked recently on a diverse range of styles including electro and house with Melbourne wizard Andy Page and Q.C. resident Dan Mangan as well as co-producing one of 2004’s biggest records of the year ‘Ride’, with Dance Music’s heavyweight Luke Chable; then the lucky dip Chuppa Chupps will be your best guess at what this legend of Australian dance will deliver…
So Join PQM, Bonnici and Quality Control residents Keltec, Mangan, Feigan and Tahl on December 16th from 10:00pm till 6am as we ho ho hoe down the Christmas spirit with a free Eggnog shot, cheap drink specials and a measly door charge of only $10 as we celebrate the festive season.

Did you take any dj action pics at Play Pen? Perhaps ask Dan, Scott, Jase?
I'm pretty sure you had that with you all the time we were sitting/lying around..
You called the DMC XMAS party venue?
Would have been in my backpack, or the pockets of my record bag. Gonna call Playpen and Circus later. Just trying to see if people can remember me with it so I can re-trace my steps.
Lying around, hehehe.
