Lynt :: Turn of the Century

Post by lynt »

I whipped up this mix last night consisting of tunes around 1999 / 2000 / 2001

Tracklist
Evil Nine - Less Stress (Marine Parade)
Koma & Bones - No Beast So Fierce (Dorigen)
Bushwacka! - Smasher (10 Kilo)
Tokamak - Setup (Bushwacka Mix) (Plank)
Tek Ed - Saving Grace (Botchit Breaks)
T-Power - Interstate (Cowboy Spliff)
Orange Kush - Swerve On (Botchit Breaks)
Orange Kush - Bring the Boogie feat. Osprey (Botchit Breaks)
Echoic & Ransom - Seven of Nine (Supercharged)
T-Power - Dental Hygiene (Botchit)
Waveform - Deep Dubz (TCR)
Yaiko - I Like 2 (Beber Trippin' Mix) (F2)

Plenty of T-Power and Botchit as they were the dons of that era.

Lynt - Turn of the Century 192.mp3

Enjoy listening as much as I was diggin for the tunes.. it ain't perfect, but neither was the year 2000. :P

I was like a kid in a candy store going through my backcat. Some of those I still play today, some I played once in the height of progressive breakbeat and turned them away.

So so so many old tunes to mix with, some unrecordable because the grooves are almost flat.

How does that happen? Playing 'em to much or ironing 'em too much?

Oh yeah, and a healthy dose of non-dnb is always good. Me likes the breaks on occasion :D

Yeah, constent play. Some of them are second hand that I've picked up along the way... classic tunes, but worn out.

Nice one mate, d/l now...

Been delving into the "golden era" a lot lately. Bit of Coastal Breaks, B & S, TCR

Have BLIM's "Modernizm" compo which is a stormer - lots of Carter, Pilgrem, BLIM, 2 Sinners etc

Aye on the Botchit tip ... they were the main players for the sound I wanted to reprezent in this mix, without having to listen to most of my backcat ;)

Biggie ups the Botchit Crew.

Yaiko mixes are wicked. Broken english styles... the Mondo Paradiso / Ils mixes on the same 12" are also just as hot

Word, loving both mixes, although having breaks in one ear and gold fm in the other is seriously fucking with my synapses...

How about something a bit more upfront Lynty??

It seams apt for me to pick up on that point about where Ransom is from in Australa. Perhaps this is one of the issues that us crew care about too much?

Dunno. Putting it to the group... But to everyone in London, Pendulum are from Australia. Nobody cares where exactly. Perth whatever. Cos to be honest there is no room for separate posses in a country of 20 million. I reckon we should pull together, innovate and show em how its done, rather than just mimick the damn pohms!

Reinvent the game and throw it back to masses. Just like we did with One-day cricket. Who's the world champs now huh?

Right. Made my not-so-eloquent (and whatever rhymes with eloquent) point. Or maybe i didn't.
