That night I dreamed a very strange alternative ending to it in which the main character ended up getting killed, along with Jensen Button, by poison darts... hmmm.

I must stop eating sugary foods right before I go to bed.

Did anyone watch the doco on Gleaning last night on SBS? I had seen part of it before and watched it all last night. What a ripper show....

HOT DOCS - THE GLEANERS AND I
Winner of Best Documentary at the 2000 European Film Awards, Agnès Varda's beautifully crafted film is an intimate inquiry into French life, as lived by France's poor and provident. Varda's film takes gleaners as her point of departure - people who pick at already-harvested fields for leftovers, individuals who were immortalised in previous generations by painters like Jean-François Millet, Vincent Van Gogh and Jules Breton. Varda's investigation into modern gleaners creates a portrait of contemporary France through the vista of those at the margins of French society. This film formed part of the 2001 Sydney Film Festival. Director Agnès Varda is in her early 70s and has been making films for more than 40 years, starting with her first feature in 1954, La Pointe Courte. (From France, In French, English subtitles) (2000) G (Rpt) WS

I just noticed now though that there was a 2nd film, TWO YEARS LATER on the topic straight after. I went to bed and missed it :( Damn not having a TV guide.

I once read an article in the Uni student newspaper, written by a hippy girl in my department, about gleaning from the industrial bins at Barkley Square :S

Great show - Shaun was a pisser! I reckon that Angus Samson (last name?) is an absolute legend - comedian/actor to look out for! What was the ad he started off in again?

Angus was the enforcer dude on that early morning ABC show after rage with the dude who's band is brown hornet...please forgive me the names of the show and host escape me. It was in the mid 90's anyhow. Angus has been around for quite a bit.

Anyone for Heist?

Good show that wasn't given a chance by NBC.

Looks like it's gonna be cancelled after episode 6.

:(

There is a link to a petition to keep it on the air on www.heist-series.com.

THE AMAZING RACE tonight!

Go Fran and Barry and big ups the hippies!

Watched this doco thing on SBS last night about this Melb born chick of Indian heritage who married her Indian boyfriend here in Aus on the sly. Their families went NUTS. They had to go back to India for the official wedding and this chick COULD NOT for the tradition. Fiery as. Classic viewing watching their reactions to her refusing to wear a sari- not happy Jan

the amazing race is one of the most annoying shows i've ever watched. short sharp clips of people yelling at each other. made me all tense and irratable.

and what's with the fuckin obnoxious couple always shouting 'yeah baby! yeeeeaaaah! come on baby!" argh...nearly broke the tele.

sorry natty. COULD NOT! :P

consider yourself backed 100%. i can sit through a few clips of annoying "highly motivated" (which seems to mean in american culture "abusive husband") dicks yelling at their partners for the awesome locations and challenges and the teams that rock.
i hope the hippies win. good to see them having so much fun with the race.
was the texas couple that asshole dentist and his wife?
if so, im real glad theyre gone. my most hated couple on this series. even worse than those two jocks.

Yep, he was the dentist.. what a tosser. Most annoying accent ever- Texan drawl. Could not.

Yep, the hippies are great- got a great attitude + they'll probably take it out. Good on 'em.

Team I hated the most ever was that asshole from last series- Jonathon and his dumb blonde wife Victoria who put up with his unspeakable behaviour. I think Liz mentioned it last week..

I soooo wanted to smash that arrogant bastard and then give her a good whipping for allowing it. Disgraceful. Phil, the host HATED his guts you could tell.

argh that guy was the biggest asshole ever.
i think one time when they reached the end of one leg he started berating her in front of phil. and that time he started bitching to phil about his wife while she walked off in tears and phil just said, "i think you should go talk to your wife"

i heard they went on oprah after they were elminated and they showed him all the clips of him being an asshole and he was pretty upset and said he hadnt realised how bad he was during the race.
i didnt buy it. the guy was a complete fuck.
and she shouldve been more assertive.

script to that

he actually pushed her that day when they arrived- pushed her quite hard and she nearly fell over. i don't think phil could believe it!

glad he got owned on oprah the tool

fuckin that guy still makes me angry thinking about it. fuck i have never wanted to punch someone out so much in my life til i saw his behaviour towards his wife. Granted she was a tool for letting him go on, but that ain't no excuse. Fuck i am angry just thinking about how he pushed her and then bitched to the dude about her, and fuckin while she was crying ARGHHH!!!!!!!!

Totally. But put an overpowering asswipe with a confident, self assured person (male/female) and he's gonna back down cause he's not so fucking strong when he's up against someone of equal power to him. That means he may not have become such an overpowering asswipe, had she not been such a pushover.

^^I'm with you 110%...shits me off to. It used to be me, being all trampled by people just cause I wanted to be liked etc...playing martyr when it suited me to. Then I realised (or was bluntly told) that unless you're always on the look out, someone will take advantage. So so SO sad, but inevitably true. I wish people were nicer, especially to those softer and weaker than themselves. It's a testiment to their character, if a stronger person outpowers the weak.
