or at least he will charge for the time to quote.
but if you want it repaired its the way to go.
just ask him to let you know if its going to be a big job or a small job once he gets it open. its its major (ie not worthwhile) at least you have the oppurtunity to take the fee for diagnosis on the chin and put the otherwise wasted money towards a rane or something.

but usually these things can be fairly simple. it in part depends on the supplier and parts. ive been waiting yonks for a repair from him, but its cos there is no supply of the part!
