We need to organise our own broken-beat festival, and tell these psy-dudes that they can't come and play at our festival either.
there's a few of us doing this right now. the idea has been in the pipeline for a few months
too fucken true!Lil MiSbreaks wrote:jbs wrote:A good breaks DJ should have no problem there I wouldda thought?. As long as they stay away from funk and bring the precussion.
I know earthcore is a little different, but there's definetly love for the right breaks at those parties. Its just the kind of breaks eh
Saw ur set this year and enjoyed myself so much man! I totally agree with you and the cheese haha. Obviously the people who've left these sorta comments must not have seen your set and how much the crowd was smiling and the numbers that were there. It was such a good morning!obliveus wrote:I've played RSF the last 3 years, so I'm not talking outta my ass.
1st year wasn't that much fun for me. A scheduling screw-up had everyone running an hour behind on the market stage and I had Rux shooting and mouthing the evil vibes my way during my set cuz he didn't believe me (I think). We were also booked during peak time on the main stage, so the only heads our way were our friends and those that were lost.
2nd year was a bit better, cuz we were all booked for the early part of the morning. Better vibe! But still not as good as camping with all my mates.
Earlier this year was my favorite Rainbow of all time. Barely made it on time for my set @ 6:30am or something like that (which was doubled due to a last minute cancellation) and the crowd was dope. Played all the atmospheric, techier bangers (from Forme to Plumps) to Aretha Franklin, Scissor Sisters, Ozomatli, Groove Armada & Les Rhymes Digitales. Even dropped Tone Loc. Cheese, if administered properly, can always work. The crowd at that time was probably tired of all the psy and just wanted to groove it out, but it's not like I was playing to 1,000 people like the main stage had.
I had a blast, but didn't get a chance to hang out with any of our mates. IMO The best part about RSF is camping with mates.
Sucks that they dont like MC's or dnb. I reckon if you guys do a beat flavored festival that would be dope. Build it and they will come. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Yeah, it was much fun! A good way to end the Rainbow run. Doubt I'll get to play it again.andy_hoffman wrote:Saw ur set this year and enjoyed myself so much man! Probably just me... but I think dubstep would not go over well at all at Rainbow. If d'n'b is a struggle, and even hard-breaks is a struggle - then slow-ass dubstep might prove difficult. But... prove me wrong!deviant wrote:dudeCitizen Smif wrote:dubstep at rainbow PLEASE

hard breaks is terrible. i think it would not work very well at all.Direktor wrote:Probably just me... but I think dubstep would not go over well at all at Rainbow. Just not a fan of dubstep, as hard as I've tried (ie. try hard).
I hate descriptions like this. So vague.Ag3nT[]0raNg3 wrote:

well. is this stuff hard breaks?? http://www.juno.co.uk/artists/Far+Too+Loud/
its pretty clownstepish.
im in agreeance with Hardy really, but its deffo still worth a shot.
That's purely a personal take on it mate (and one you'll get a few arguments over - I for one, like it). If you read my post again, I did say I don't think it would work at Rainbow mate....Ag3nT[]0raNg3 wrote:hard breaks is terrible. i think it would not work very well at all.Direktor wrote:Probably just me... but I think dubstep would not go over well at all at Rainbow. Asking them to mix it up is like going to a Hip Hop gig and asking them to play House.ghetto kitty wrote:meh.Hardy wrote: If you want variety, go to Earthcore, but Rainbow should remain "pure".
mix it up man.
for those of us who work the entire earthcore, rainbow is the only party of the year.
and if youve never liked trance, but loved the vibe and people at rainbow, then your saying to keep the music... 'pure shit'......(go on hit me heheh)
sundays at rainbow are my saving grace, when it gets funky and chunky and actually has some bass worth stomping to.,
not nessecarily devoted to soft/hard/melted breaks only. but a bit of chunk is not too much to ask IMO...
