Anyway, what's the BEST beer for you? Aussie and/or international?
I'm torn. I like Boags & Coopers Red, and also Japanese beer Ebisu and German beer Becks...

Hey, that's a Perth beer, isn't it? I drank that religiously when I went to Perth a few years back! Yum!Lindemon wrote:Also any1 know where I can get some Emu bitter in Melbs.?
Oh yeah, a word of warning - although I use a beer brand as my icon on this forum - BERGEN BRAU (my surname is Bergen) - do not drink this evil beverage!!!
It's not German; it's made in South Korea, is cheap and nasty, and gives you a way bad hangover.
Just like me, I guess...

Horses for course mate... I can see your point on Carona, but chill the fuck out of it (the beer) and throw in some lime, and I find it a really refreshing beer during a summer day, particularly when you're out in the sun.flippo wrote:I don't understand the appeal of beers like carona and peroni, they don't really have any flavour to me. If I wanted something that easy to drink I'd drink water, I need a bit of complexity and character.
Peroni... well, that's got flavour to me. There are two type of Peroni that I see at the store, I've only ever had the blue one.
Beers without flavour to me are Pure Blonde, Steller, Carlton Cold, Tooheys Premium and even Becks these days (since they've stopped being imported)... but yeah, horses for courses - we've all got different tastes I guess,

yeh im with you on stella, Becks.... I would add to that Heinekin, Steinlarger, few others. Carton Cold is the king of shit beers though On top of that the amount of shit they have to pump into it so they can keep it in those clear glass bottles without going off, worst hangover! I find any cold filtered beer gives me a killer hangover, even if I'm not drunk.Direktor wrote:Horses for course mate... Having said all that, Carona used to be my favorite beer back in the day. Maybe that was when I drank to get absolutley para, and it was just so easy to knock down a slab of the cunts in an afternoon sitting.
I used to get it at the local bottlo when I lived in Doncaster in 2002. It's by Mad Brewers, which is a sub-brewery of Malt Shovel. I'm not sure if it's still being made or not though.Direktor wrote:Have neither seen nor heard about this one mate, where/when did you come across this?flippo wrote:
tangy coriander and orange get-up, easy to drink but still has a bit of edge. Comes into it's own with seafood, baked thai chilli snapper for example.
Mad Brewers Beer is no longer avail im pretty sure flip. MSB do limited realese beers most years and im pretty sure they replaced the MB beers. I fukin love James Squire beers...anything that turns a normal VB / Melb / Draught drinker into a person that actually apprciates flavour in a brew has got my vote.
For xmas Rach;s old man got me a mixed six pack.
1 x Elephant piss
1 x Duvel
1 x Boags limited release honey porter
1 x Coopers Vintage 2005
And the other two beers i cant remeber

Duvel rocks.
James Squire Golden Ale, I remember when it first came out, I'd had a huge weekend with mates and we were winding down on a sunday BBQ. One mate brought round a sixer of it and gave one to us each, we liked it so much we immidiatley went to the bottlo and got 2 slabs. I think the term "Thirst Slacking Session Beer" on the side of the bottle also got us sold. It was suposed to be limited release back then, but my Mate mik wrote an email to some suit at Lion Nathan when he was absolutley off chops, detailing every aspect of the weekend, finaly ariving at drinking the Golden Ale and how good it was, how impressed we all were etc. He was begging that they keep it on as a perminant beer. Some chick wrote back the next day and said "Thankyou for your highyl amusing email! You will be pleased to know that because this, and many other similar emails, we will be keeping the Golden Ale in the James Squire range". And there was much joy and Jesus did say it was good.
