ANY PRODUCERS WANT TO START A LIVE DANCE ACT?
I'm a singer/guitarist/songwriter/producer and I'm looking to start a live act with someone who produces dance-oriented electronic stuff and has the equipment and know-how to sequence live.
I'll have an album of electropop songs I wrote and produced myself out on electronic label Tempest some time this year but, because the arrangements are pretty elaborate and it was all done on PC, I won't be able to play any of it live (without using pre-recorded backing tracks, which would be lame). So I'm really keen to add my vocals and guitar to someone else’s ‘proper’ dance music with a view to putting together an exciting and different live show.
My singing style is a bit like Bernard Sumner of New Order (my favorite group) and my guitar sound and style is much like that of the Cure's Robert Smith. My lyrics tend to be a bit melancholic but (I'd like to think) thought-provoking and honest.
My favorite styles are electro, breaks, d'n'b, garage, tech, old-school house and stuff like Leftfield, Underworld, Chemical Brothers etc. Not a fan of trance, hard house, darkwave, prog or commercial and I don't want to do anything downtempo or chillout.
In a few weeks I'll be living in Richmond (currently in Kensington). I don't like rehearsing at night but I have every Thursday off work and, of course, weekends.
If you're interested you can contact me at james_mclaren1@hotmail.com. Hope to hear from you.
Cheers,
James
