I didnt really like them either, and i knew they would not reach the audience anywhere near as much as the graff/stencil/graphic stuff..
but how can you say no to donations for a charity event?

she reprinted them so many times, sent me hundreds of emails/texts, and was generally VERY keen. it was the first time she had ever exhibited her work and shes started doing that kind of art late in life.

she was really gutted to see her prints (the frames alone are worth over $50 apparently) go for ten or fifteen dollars. i sent her an email after the auction explaining that her work is definately marketable, just not really to the melb broken beat scene! i suggested some places for her to sell/exhibit, and she wrote back thanking me, she was totally distraught on the day.

so thats the story of the wierd pieces.

i bought one for my parents.

i know. she left quick smart on the day...

i wrote a long encouraging email, suggested places, told her they are perhaps more widely marketable to a commerical audience base but not the MB community...

they are well suited to doctors offices, waiting rooms, tea houses, etc, i didnt say thaqt, but they will sell okay in craft type envorinments, country cottage antieu stores etc etc

and re > stencil art. well, ive put on stencil shows in other countries nic, thats my art network. i dont know what you mean by derivative, but the whole idea of stencil art is to reproduce the same image quickly over and over (hello street posters, viva la revolution)
there was also photography, drawings, freehand acrylic paintings and sclupture.

i asked for art from, the mb community, did not recieve any.
