my friends started getting them yesterday. Weak version of myspace, not good for stalking people you dont know as you can see profiles you arent friends with, so its flawed allready
How about tagged?
then ringo
then...too much communication
there are heaps of ways to tag you friends with various thigns like 'pimp' 'best friend' 'funny' 'chillin' etc then there is Jay-Z, Lady Sov, and Rhianna... but thats all the celebrity ones there are. Must be ownd by defjam mgm or something.
Virb is the new myspace.. everything else is weak.
Myspace has one of the worst interfaces I've ever seen.
Anyone can setup a nice looking page on virb. It's drag and drop!
It uses flickr for photos and you can even link up your itunes so that others can see what you are playing. If you are that way inclined.
remember those myspace haters - oher social networks MAY have better functionality ... but to be a SOCIAL network ... people must use it! Virb etc may be superior to myspace but it tanks in what counts, a strong community and users.
shepherd OTM! I was trying to explain this to stray the other day I don't care if it's ugly as fuck, if it's got the biggest userbase, it's the most powerful. It's like the NDS doing better than the PSP even though the PSP is technically better hardware.
but if someone has a facebook or a tagged or, like stray, a vibe, and you want to make relationships with them from the lonely confines of your office in order to make the day less painful, why not get one too?

It's the future.
Myspace can die.
Michael, I understand the power of the friends list.
But that's only useful if you're trying to sell something.
I couldn't give a rats about the friends list.
It just encourages spam.
disagree and you know my stance on this.
friend list has nothing to do with trying to sell shit or edm ... do you want your music exposed to 3m australians or 3? Isn't the point of a social network to have a network. A virb site with no organic traffic or ability to leverage friends (like a myspace) is like a castle in the dessert.
i don't understand myspace haters :S it's like some tech vigilante group telling us what is worthy and what isn't
btw if anything is the future it's facebook - 83% month on month traffic increase locally (up to approx 170k) with almost 25m users globally. Great functionality if a little sterile - has a similar buzz to what myspace did when it really went gangbusters in the first quarter of 06.
it'll be interesting to see if facebook does actually 'explode' in terms of their userbase. it's had high use amongst college users for some time (and has now been opened to the public, natch), but it lacks the personalisation (as much as it gets abused) that myspace provides. a lot of people have been switching onto it over the past 2-3 weeks though. i think my friend list went from 10 to ~100 over that period.
for the record, i like virb lots.
