I'm with you Timmy, bring on some Beeblebrox action.TimmyG wrote:Sam Rockwell's awesome in everything imo. Even in Galaxy Quest as the guy who was destined to die if he was part of an away team. Great film that.

i went and saw the premiere of 9 Songs on Tuesday at ACMI.
Aye carumba! It was chock full of real sex that got really boring as it told the "love story" of two people. The best bits are the 9 songs performed live by Franz Ferdinand, Happy Mondays, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Gang etc. Also the scenes in the Antartica where the male character looks back on his "relationship" with the chick character.
Otherwise this movie was completely lacking in plot, less than a porno (not that I watch them much! ) and was not that good! 5/10
The director Michael Winterbottom's film 24 Hr Party People was a much better film i think! check that one instead if you havent already seen it.

was it seriously American made? I thought it was British, it kinda had that feel to it.mecka wrote:Yeh liz saw it last nite too ... so good. Not completely faithful to the books, with some bits from the later ones inserted into the movie, but a thoroughly hilarious film all round.
Mos Def is AWESOME. The man is so versatile its not funny.
Sam Rockwell is so fucking funny as well.
Glad to see an american-made film with more British actors in it than Americans for once.
And the FX are great. Planet Factory - yeh tingles up and down the spine there.
Well, it was written by a British author with a very British sense of humour...Lizkins wrote:was it seriously American made? You'll love it Timmy, no doubt
I didn't say understand it, I said like it, I understood what was happening, but it was way too disjointed. Wasn't really enjoyable, and as Tim, Keith and Jason said, the book explains why things are the way they are more, without it, it seems unimportant... eg the towels.Lizkins wrote:i understood it and i haven't read the books. think outside the square....quick wrote:Hitchickers Guide... meh, 4/10, I think you need to have read the book to like it, or so I was told by mates who I went to watch it with, the movie just seemed way to disjointed...

i thought the towel thingy was used as a useful handy thing to help in emergencies or random stuff. It kinda reminded me of another book i read and it had a similar obscure device used, can't remember the book off the top of my head right now but i related the towel thingy to that. Timmy is that kinda right?quick wrote:I didn't say understand it, I said like it, I understood what was happening, but it was way too disjointed. Yes. But the emphasis on it's usefulness just wasn't there in the movie. Along with the emphasis on a lot of other things that just appeared in the film. Like the pints of beer they drank when the world was going to end in 12 minutes. In the movie, they were just drinking them for a reason the viewer must assume as it's not explained. In the book it is explained that if you're a bit pissed, getting beamed on board an alien spacecraft is a lot more pleasant. I was just waiting for Ford Prefect to say it, and he never does. They could have easily fit in that explanation in the time they gave to the scene but the producers just decided to leave it out.Lizkins wrote:i thought the towel thingy was used as a useful handy thing to help in emergencies or random stuff. That sorta thing happened way too many times for my liking during the film. The movie didn't tell the story the way the book did way too many times for it to be an accident. Douglas Adams' pisstake of the human race, which is the book's main message was completely overlooked.
David & Margaret on the movie show thought the film was true to the book. Maybe to the trilogy, with a different sequence of events but it was no way near enough verbatim for my liking.

And while I hate to admit it, I have this massive teenage-like crush on Scarlett Johansson.
have you seen "An American Rhapsody"? I watched it with dboy's p's and ended up crying my heart out for about 2 hours. Beautiful footage of my old home (hungary). My family love that movie so much.
I also got Ghost World.. that movie is soooooooooo funny!!!
...and basically that's the situation

Yeh I saw the movie Mel... I think the title deals more with the fact that some of Americas founding fathers/more important members have guarded the treasure for hundreds of years.
Personally I found it to be a solid 2 hours of entertainment. Not fantastic, but not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

Can't remember who i was talking to about this or where the TV thread is....however, finally watched OZ last night man its good but i am glad last nights episode according to Hardy was the usual run of the mill one and not one with all the raping and shit....need to ease myself on this one i reckon. Def recommend though, especially if you watch Law & Order SVU cos you can see how different the charactes are etc.
Stevey - how good was Jack McCoy last night. I almost creamed myself over his performance And the new D.A or ADA is pretty cool too! I missed last weeks, supposedly they fired Blondie. Buggar it, i liked her

that was me.
glad you watched it, last night was a pretty jam packed episode with some strange religious daliances throughout. Is Adabesi dead? I hope not he was the best character.
On another note watched Closer with Natalie Portman and Jude Law in it a few nights ago. Loved it a sad and deep story. For a girl playign a stripper Natalie did well to keep her cothes on...prude A very enjoyable movie.
