Dalai Lama 2007 visit

Post by Friday »

HH The Dalai Lama is visiting again in June this year.

Melbourne is getting a few days of talks and teachings again which is ace.

More info on it here: http://www.dalailama.org.au

Anyone go to any of the teachings last year? Planning on going this year?

My Mum was telling me they're working with the Aust Conservation Foundation to make the whole tour carbon neutral which is cool. Big ups to that!

Thinking of signing up for a Volunteer for this tour :D . Tickets are sold as a package only (4 techings). I'd only able to attend 3 max and $300 is a big call for me at the moment.

not trying to be a cynic, but where does the $100 per head, per teaching go if he doesn't get it?

Every dollar raised will go into the running of the tour. Excess funds will be used to support Tibetan communities in exile.

hehe.. Friday is probably better informed.. But if i was top guess i would say it goes back into making sure he can continue his work... i.e. cover his costs of travel etc

Its a fair question. cause you'd think he might try and make his gigs a little more affordable. Or can only wealtyh people partake in his teachings?

there are lots of free, open to the public, as always.

the teachings are much smaller and much more in depth buddhism teachings rather than the talks which are normally more about tibet and it's plight and bits of general buddhist philosophy.

But he breeds the purest white goats from an ancient gene pool. That's why they annexed his homeland, but he was one step ahead of the communists and used trading boats loaned by the Dutch East India company to transport his beloved cattle to a secret place across the border from Pakistan. The man is a legend.

i'd be there early if you can guys...

the sydney and perth events where also free but the venues insisted on 'ticketing' them in advance so they could control the number of people etc. they 'sold out' tens of thousands of tickets in minutes the day they were released...

Mum went and randomly got seats second from the front. She said the MC guy who introduced him was loud and embarassingly animated, but that the man himself was very laid back and humorous.
