No, I am not using HDR, though it is something I would like to experiment with. What I do do however, is create my images as correctly exposed RAW files. A correctly exposed digital image never has "blown" highlights, and there is plenty of ability to retain shadow information in the RAW image. Then when I convert the RAW files to a TIFF for manipulation in Photoshop I beef up the detail shown in the shadows. Then of course I will apply selective contrast and brightness and colour etc changes to specific areas of the photograph, so that every area looks good and in harmony with the entire image.

He uses a Canon 1Ds Mark II

Hooray for my new Ricoh GR Digital. It's a lovely little compact, stylish and black, with a fixed 28mm lens. Full manual control with two dials for apeture and shutter speed, just like an SLR. A few years old now, but still very well regarded. Thanks Ebay!
