I watched "Shoot 'em Up" with Clive Owen and Monica Belluci. I thought i was going to hate it, as I usually hate those sorts of american movies. But it was actually hilarious, in a good way. Sure it was a bit of a rip off of sin city, just less plot, but I enjoyed it all the same.
I recommend for a friday night ;)

Also watched Conspiracy Theory, love that flick, I'm having a bit of a Mel Gibson month... may watch Pay Back this weekend, my fav.

Been getting into Firefly, such an amazing series, although it's hard to watch it knowing that there are so many things unanswered that you never find out. I'll keep watching though :P

until next time!

Edit: This is next time!
Last night watched Priceless (Hors de prix) with Audrey Tautou and Gad Elmaleh. It was fantastic. Romantic and incredibly funny. Sometimes painful but it all comes together greatly.
IMDb wrote:Through a set of wacky circumstances, a young gold digger mistakenly woos a mild-mannered bartender thinking he's a wealthy suitor.
Definately recommend it for anyone who liked Amelie and Hunting and Gathering.

I saw this one a while ago and quite liked it. It was the first time I'd seen Gad Elmaleh in a film and I found him quite refreshing (compared to seeing Daniel Auteuil in everything!) If you liked his comedy he is terrific in La Doublure (2006) aka The Valet with fellow comedian Dany Boon and of course... Daniel Auteuil! :)
Definately recommend it for anyone who liked Amelie and Hunting and Gathering.
Hunting and Gathering did not do it for me! It just didn't gel :S

If you need a another french fix, I thoroughly recommend Mon meilleur ami (2006/I) aka My Best Friend with Daniel Auteuil and Dany Boon. It's out on DVD and a good balance of comedy and moral tale. More serious than The Valet.

Watched a funny, unknown movie last night called Waiting.

Being unknown (to us) - I didn't expect anything, but was pleasantly surprised.

Great low-brow humour, worth a watch - some golden lines in there.

watched This is England the other night. Fucking brilliant film about the early skin head culture in the UK in the 70s. Excellent character kinda film with a dark undertone. 9/10 for me. very impressive.

Also saw Paris je'taime (or however you spell it). 5 minute vignettes by different directors all with paris as the central theme. cohen brothers and a few other stand out directors/actors. would recommend it. 6.5/10 i'd say. would watch again.

well ive watched it over 200 times!!! hehe just kidding :P
Yeah I've read that Sheppard was apparantly an ex Cardinal of the Alliance and that is why they treat him when he gets shot. It said that after the war he quit and refound himself in religion because he was changed by all the blood shed and horrible things he did, blah blah blah. Anyway so not that exciting really :P

Watched Jumper last night. Exactly what I expected. Good CG, ZERO plot line. and friggen anican skywalker who i didn't recognise at first. He's better in this, obviously no acting talent required but less childish/selfish/etc. The chick from the OC pissed me off. Samuel Jackson pissed me off. The kid from Billy Elliot was actually ok. It was interestin watching the american and british guys team up, the american was all: I must save the world, be a hero. Will involve all the people i love though and get them killed. British guy was all: need to get the friggen job done, prepare properly, have a plan, then have it ruined by an american.

Good fun anyway just to watch a bad film. Graphics made it satisfying enough

It just finished. I was supposed to go with my french workmate, but she bailed to go to the Grand Prix. I had already seen one of the films (Odette Tout Le Monde - don't bother), and I'll catch the rest as they come through Cinema Nova. Cheaper there!

I finally got around the seeing the highly recommended French film The Spanish Apartment aka L'Auberge espagnole. I absolutely adored this one! It is loads of fun and the setting in Barcelona is a thrill to see places you've been too. Good ensemble cast, including Audrey Tatou as a whinging girlfriend LOL

The Danish one was After the Wedding aka Efter brylluppet (2006). I really enjoyed that one! Reviewed it a while ago in this thread.

It has Mads Mikkelsen in it, who also stars in Unit One, the Danish cop show you mentioned on SBS. That is a good cop show, very gritty. It had a great storyline going when Mads went undercover and was dealing and taking drugs. Crazy stuff. Good tele Charlie.

Subtitles are fine for me, as long as I have finished dinner. Otherwise you miss a line while you look down the fork something.

Checked Raging Bull last night.

Fuckin' De Niro - how good is the man?!

Very.

Scorsese and De Niro have done quite a few flicks together haven't they? Goodfella's, Raging Bull, Cape Fear, Casino... are there others?

Yeah love the De Niro/Scorsese combo... Joe Pesci features quite prominently in most of those flicks too (everything bar Cape Fear).

I'd put him above Polanski, but... horses for courses.

^ It is awesome isn't it! Glad you liked it. :)
There is a new film out by the same director called Paris, so watch out for that one in cinemas soon.

Last night I watched the classic French film Jean de Florette. I watched it with a sense of dread having seen it before. 4 tissue rating, but still very worth watching to see the magic of Yves Montand, Daniel Auteil and a young Gerard Depardieu (as a hunchback!)

Direktor: Did you like the scenery in Romulus, My Father? It was shot out Castelmaine/Maldon way and the countryside looks so wonderful. Good movie.

Just saw this one tonight. System was on the money! My companion didnt think it was 40 mins too long, but we both really enjoyed this ensemble piece. Luckily I also caught Russian Dolls (Spanish Apartment sequel) on SBS last night. Viva les films Français!

Melbourne animator Paul Robertson's latest short Kings Of Power 4 Billion % (featuring music by Qua) is freely and legitimately available to download, courtesy of the artist. Your best bet is the pirate bay torrent link.

What can I say? Reminds me of every video game and anime I've ever seen... mixed with ridiculous levels of violence no child could imagine.

(not graphic though. even the violence is cute)
