That's a bummer. The Creative Bent folks wanted to have their get together there but were put off by the comedian doing his show. Is he funny?universal sea wrote:8pm - The same melbourne comedy festival guy doing the same exact set
Anyways, I've got some people coming down with me so should be a big one!

The blurb:
Off Beat welcomes back Scattermish for another dose of multifarious beats and sounds. Warning: Scattermish's sets have been known to encourage bumping and grinding, which could possibly be a first for Off Beat but is encouraged nonetheless.
9:00 SEA (a.k.a. Universal Fail)
10:00 SCATTERMISH (Intergalactic Beat Emperor)
11:30 LEPHRENIC (The World Is Not Enough)
Horse Bazaar - 397 Little Lonsdale St
Free entry as usual, with the bar serving fine cocktails for the adventurous and $3.50 pots for the rest of us.
I recommend the cocktails though.

With no hellbound comedians cramping our style this week, we've assembled a stellar line-up that ought to get you racing for the tram into town. The couch can wait.
First up, scratch master DJ Deltoid returns to Off Beat with a hard drive full of beats and bass. Deltoid frequently traverses many styles, from dubstep to ghettotech, baile funk to bad ass hip hop.
We also welcome Deviant for his Off Beat debut. Aside from being one of Melbourne's hardest working breaks DJs, Deviant has an ear for music of many more styles than most would know. Can he play bass and DJ at the same time? Probably not. So we'll let him just do what's best.
8:00 - DELTOID (not for the player haters)
9:30 - DEVIANT (play some breaks kharnt)
11:00 LEPHRENIC (still loves you in the awning)
Sea will be back, we promise.

Wow. Dodgy needles aside, that was an awesome set, Dan.
Twitter crew packed it out, Deltoid scratched it up, Dan brockin out the dubstep and blippy breaks. Kings Of Power 4 Billion % on the projectors had so many people's jaws dropping. All in all, a great night.
But I'll take Twitter crew over Disney costumed first years any day.

ok that was packed and truly off beat. Some of the performers plugged up several game boys, and generated beats & sounds solely from them. Mad.
This week we have that Portishead album special as promised. Trip hop, downtempo, chill out, brooding beat lovers, this one will be good. Lephrenic, myself and special audio/visual entertainment planned.
Thursday May 1st, 8pm-late, inspired by Chinese buffet.
