I feel bad breaking the Gripe drought but I've got a good one. I have Pitryiasia Rosea :( It's not meant to be itchy but mine's mutated a little thanks to eczema and thus it's blazing itchy. All my clothes seems to be made of itchiness. I went to work this morning and told my boss - showed him my belly with all it's splotches. All of a sudden, 14 people come over to diagnose me. They sent me home in case it's chicken pox (which I've already had) and now I have to get a second opinion. Yay for the day off work, boo for being itchy and feeling frightfully ugg.

yeah its pretty gloomy around work at the moment...

thanks for all of your well wishes....

im going to organise a benefit gig soon on a sunday and will let yall know if you were friends with those guys to come down....

the dog who attacked yoshi is on our morning walk route.
yoshi is okay, jsut a bit shaken up, he never had any dog attack him like that before. im tempted to leave a note in his letter box saying 'please make sure your vicious dog is securely chained up so we can walk past your house aruond nine thirty each morning' thanks'

oh > great.
as im typing this, got a rejection call from a VOLUNTEER position i thought i was way over qualified for.

its really my week this week.

Poppet - you may have not got he job BECAUSE you were over qualified.... This has happened to me a fair bit, drives you mad, but they just think you will get bored......

ALSO - I would be putting a note in the letter box so that they are aware, cause poor Yoshi has to walk past each day...

Jeez Kitty, that's rough :(

With the fire - speediest of recoveries to those hurt. Of all the places in the world to get burnt, Oz ain't bad (top burns research). As long as everyone's okay, everything else is 'just' material. With accidents, you can play "if only" all day, but if you changed one thing, you might not come out with everyone alive.

Was this the writing festival job? You never know what connections the successful person had, so try not to let it get you down. Around now is prolly the time the Melbourne Writers' Festival is sorting out staffing. In fact, a quick look reveals they need a volunteer coordinator and box office manager. I'd also follow up volunteer opportunities too - having done that before, I can confirm you make a lot of contacts that way.

Poor Yoshi. They is just jealous of his bling :(

thanks for the tips retzie....
im not sure what im doing really, im jsut feeling like charlie and deviant even tho im in a semi creative job, ive pushed the boundaries as far as i can be fucked and now mostly feel my brain atrophy as i go through the motions.

i said id do lounge for two years and i have, there jsut doesnt seem to be any ladder to climb, or any jobs for someone like me with ten years of industry experience and no degree. im not giving up yet tho. but sometimes i want to.

mixxy > how bout going to someone wholistic instead? as far as my own expernice goes skin things are usually ALWAYS to do with diet or stress, or both. steriod creams and shit suck, as dan said, and are the first thing any GP will give you...

^^ So you've only got yourself to blame then really :P. Surely in the next three months you can find something more interesting? If all else fails, I know a personal trainer who needs an assistant :teef:

Charlie, that sounds shithouse. What are you really meant to be doing? Are you looking elsewhere?

Kitty, I'm guessing your industry works a lot on personal contacts, which is a recipe for really depressing stretches of feeling like you can't get a hold anywhere. I'm sure something fab will turn up eventually. Following up your interest in writing could open up some doors?

Ha, having said all that, yes I'm miserable about work too. Money here runs out at the end of July, no prospect of work I actually want until Aug/Sept next year. Back-up plan (teaching) involves poverty line. No idea who else'd employ me in the intervening year. All these fucking degrees are just a liability :x

begin rant >
fuck this.

i know all of you guys personally, and yall are highly intelligent, and multi talented, good communicators, well written, well spoken, with lots of energy and ideas in your various industries.

its BULLSHIT that we cant find jobs, that we like, let alone love.
its CRAP that we are over qualified for ANYTHING.
its a TRAVESTY that MOST people feel like this in their jobs.

what the fuck society? universe?

somethin has to change.

retzie - I was supposed to be a Business Services Manager - in that i run teh serviced offices, but it is not working out, now i am on overpaif receptionist, i mean YAY i am on a good wage for waht i do - but i bored shitless! I come in 30mins early in the am to clean teh kitchen, i spend my 30mins lunch cleaning the kitchen and then i spend anoth 30-45 mins at the end of the day cleaning the kitchen, so my hours are supposed to be 9am till 5:30pm i work 8am-8:30am start till usuall 6pm or 6:30pm, with a 30 minute break that i spend cleaning up after other people.....

Inbetween answer phones and email messages, with post in and out and then if i am lucky i need to bail some twit that can't use word out at the 11th hour cause they are a fuckwit..

that is all i do all day, i USED to do end to end accounts of a retail company, plus manage a warehouse, work on shop floors and merchandise...

now .......

Kitty - I hear you baby, there are so many people that could be better used, but alas.....

if i had the money i would start my own business in a snap

Kitty - something hands on... I tried to go back to school to do Horticulture, but thanks to being farked over by a boss with hours i had to choose, educate myself in what i like or eat....
I chose to eat.

So i would have a little garden business or Nursery.

Or like a million other peeps esp in Melbourne a coffee shop/wine bar, but that market is well and truly flooded.

If i was to keep doing this stuff at least in an industry that i am interested in, see i could do all this for a Tattoo Shop, i would love to be shop manager of a Tatt Shop....

its stressy though sometimes
