ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

one of your best lines was "Please........ just love me!" or something along those lines.

then we went to the bar for shots, you grabbed a whole tub of lemons from behind the bar, downed the shot, told me you hated me for giving you the shot and that was the last I saw of Karlos...

good times!

Thanks for everyone that made it down to say goodbye to BW in style!
I never thought in my wildest dreams that an idea like Beats Working would reach so many people, last as long as it did and build so many lasting friendships. Cheers to the entire Bee Dub crew, past, present and future. Respect.

Out of posting and clubbing retirement to say thank you for a corker of a night. Took me straight back to 2005 - great vibe, great tunes and smiling faces all round.

Have to join the chorus of respect to the BW crew for being a true foundation of the scene. DC all the way for set of the night for me too; absolute bomb after bomb that kept me glued to the floor throughout. Major respect sir.

Here's to a 'John Farnham Farewell Tour' approach to BW for 2009 and beyond.

Wow, great to hear peeps had so much fun!

Big thanks to all the people that came down and made the night what it was.

Big thanks to the Bee Dub boys: Scroterod, OB, DC, Boobs and Tahl.

Big thanks to Jimmy Wasp for taking over the reigns in the wee hours and for Dan Sponk for stepping up also.

Great to see many old, friendly faces out amongst the crowd.

Thanks again for the support guys.

obliveus wrote: BEATS WORKING @ MISS LIBERTINES (THE LONG, SENTIMENTAL VERSION)

Remember the days when parties were better? Docklands before it became, well, THE DOCKLANDS and lost all of its dirt, grime and graffiti. Sunny @ Billboards and losing the plot to mammoth 3-hour Phil K sets before his international days. 33 and 1/3 with so many classic nights and sets with everyone from the Plumps to the Freestylers heading down for some dance action. Fractured and Out of Order on the same night every week with both clubs well attended with up-for-it punters wanting beats of the broken variety.

Those were the days, right?

You probably sleep every night with someone you met at one of those places or play lawn bowls, yeah? At the very least, you probably have some great friendships today that were started after bumping into off-their-tits randoms at one of those places. If not, then you really were on some good shit back then.

Well, get all those nostalgic feelings into your heads right now, cuz a truly classic night is coming out of the woodwork for one last go before calling it quits forever. Beats Working was inspired originally by all of the previously mentioned happenings listed here, but became something much more to the regular 'Bee Dub' crew over the course of almost 7 years. What started out as 'dedicated breakbeat shenanigans' became a showcase of playing to the room with whatever the hell the faceless dudes on stage felt like. Breaks, hiphop, dnb, electro, house, reggae, dancehall and funk became melded into one conglomeration of beats that symbolized a "fuck it" attitude to running a proper dance party. The first non-dnb party to showcase an MC in Melbourne was, at first, seen as something weird, but became the staple at many breaks nights around town. When mash-up was still in its infancy, the musical side of a BW party was just that from the beginning and still is. A proper party vibe was always maintained by décor being brought in and set up by the crew and this hasn't stopped; banners, lights, projectors, flat screens, sheets, netting, drunks, winos, hippies…you know how we did it!

We played every major festival, from Earthcore to Rainbow Serpent to Kryal Castle all-nighters. We played on boats, rivers and in craters. We tore down tents, snuck peeps in through alleyways and behind rubbish bins, raised cash for charity, passed out behind the decks, threw after-parties, held full-room sing-a-longs, set up renegade stages, rocked themed costume nights, maintained a free door policy for most of our lifetime and even managed a few international guests along the way. Oh, yeah…AND WE DANCED!!! Oh, how we danced. All this with one of the most loyal fan bases this town has ever seen, because we did this for the love of it, not the money. Promotion was, and still is, one of the worst things we do. You ever see us handing out fliers at other gigs, putting up posters on the street or talking shit in the forums? Well, the latter is something we did, and do, well, but the rest was non-existent because our best promotional campaigns were word of mouth.

So why don't you come out one more time to send this party into proper retirement. Shenanigans will be held on Saturday October 20th from 10pm – 5am @ Miss Libertines. Appearing will be Scotrod, Hans-DC, Feigan, Tahl, MC Direkt and Obliveus. You know this is going to rip, so get yourself down for one last Melbourne Shuffle.
Excited!!!! :blob6:
