This is a bit intense. Think a few ppl need to settle down. Sure NA sounds quite aggressive in a few of his posts. But hey...

Let the guy put on his party and if they are all that and his ideas work. Obviously more ppl will go to them and the will be as good as he says they are.

Now the one thing i do wonder is. What can you offer to the people playing? It seems you expect alot for somebody to play. But show little in offering anything back to them.

Yeah. I know, it's cheap, but the costs of these gigs comes out of my pocket alone. Im not made of money, and so, I take those willing. ... Its funny... The best talent is always up to play free tho. I don't want to be like "its about so much more than money mannnn" and all that crap, just, I can only pay for so much.

If I was running this as a business, to make money, yes I'd pay Dj's, but I'd also expect them to have a 20 person guest list, and I would go all out and get popular commercial names to draw in a crowd, and then charge at the door.


LJ- You are absolutely correct, and I make it clear from the start, I can't offer anything but a chance to show case your stuff to the public, and as I said. it's amazing the un-named talent you can find willing to play for free.

Alot of Djs reach a standard and expect to be paid for it. Some exceed that standard because they have never been paid. I can't offer the chance to be part of something big or even different, all I can offer is to be part of something, well nice. .. And thats it. We're all very, very nice people. If you want to play with us and can keep up, then welcome aboard. Hopefully by us banding together tho, we can attract some attention from bigger gigs which will then help them further their exposure and careers.

Think of it this way. Some Dj's send out their demos and are never given a chance, alot of the time because they have no name and no experience. Promoters KNOW they have no name and won't put them on because their lack of title means loss of revenue. Because basically, revenue and money is no issue here, we put on the guys who haven't played out but are good. If they don't have a name, who cares? People return for good music. You can have as many fancy gimics as you want in a night, but if the music is shit, people don't come back. In establishing ourselves we hope that larger promoters can feel, not threatened, but, interested in the level of talent we put out. If they don't, then these great Dj's are still putting their stuff out. They still have a place to play. People can still hear them and so, it might be small but its better than never getting a gig because you don't know the right people. Now days decent gigs are in contacts, not talent.

You've all seen the response I got from 1 post here. I know that if I kiss someones ass, I can get gigs, but at what cost? To never go beyond that level? Thats why I won't let anything like differences of opinions, politics, popularity and just, meaningless crap, come between a great Dj's chance to play to SOMEONE, maybe not everyone but just someone, just so they can have something where they don't have to have to suck up for a gig, and, run with crews and get 20 people on a guest list and all that shit. They are appreciated for their talent. I'm sorry it's not alot, but, I think anyone who leaves an offer like that isn't the kind of Dj I'd want to play anyway because I wouldn't have faith in their ability to A- start from the bottom and work their way up, and B- move forward and break comfort zones and shit.
