So, saw Mongol last night.

Good movie, enjoyed it.

Not usually a fan of subtitles TBH, as I find myself reading rather than watching - and that's what books are for.

I didn't mind the love story, as long as it's somewhat based on fact - which I haven't looked into yet.

Just a shame that the movie ended just when he became the Kahn and started his Empire. Would have loved to have seen that.

Got Street Kings at home now.

Finally watched Shogun Assassin last night. Completely fucking enjoyable, some really interesting editing and cinematography. The bad bits just made the whole thing even better.

Watched a few episodes of The Samurai as well. Good stuff.

Would've preferred subtitles to the American voice overs, but they made me laugh.

Awesome news Rod, looking forward to the next couple of installments.

Beautifully shot, and the action scenes were great to watch too.

The director wanted to make it as 3 movies but has only been given approval for 2.
I was really disappointed with this movie.. too much love story which was pretty lame and childish and not enough conquering!
Huge gaps in the story line.. maybe this had something to do with shortening it from 3 movies to 2.

I don't mind the love story, as long as it's accurate.

If it's known that he wasn't that sort of bloke, and didn't have such a relationship - then I'm not such a fan.

I watched an awesome movie on Friday night on DVD, Gone Baby Gone, directed by Ben Affleck and starring his brother Casey Affleck and Ed Harris. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Tight script, good acting, concise drama.

Dave & Margret liked it too with 4 & 4.5 stars.

Hellboy 2 was awesome! Better than the first one too.
Just watched Gonzo. A documentary about Hunter S Thompson. Really good doco. Mostly narrated by Johnny Depp and he does a great job of it.
I rate it 4.5 stars Image

Fail. You think Hellboy 2 is good? And you told me before that Harold and Kumar is the worst movie you have ever seen!?

Do not listen to this man in regards to movies.

Having said that.. the Hunter S Thompson doco is really good. :)

It's not quite bad ass Aliens fighting Ausie bogans, but there is Kiwi bogans blowing up aliens with weird ass cheecks.

Stray - Harold & Kumar. .. .. ... Best film ever :P I haven't seen Hellboy 2 yet but I have part 1 on Dvd, I think it's allright, I love that superhero stuff. Iron Man is fucking, top notch. But, I watched Batman Begins the other night for the first time, I was really suprised because I was never a fan of Batman.

Anyone into Anime films?

Harold and Kumar is shitty simpleton humour just the same as all the other shitty american teen movies. It's lame as. I felt dumber just watching it!!
The first hellboy was average i thought. 2nd one had a better story and better special effects!

Oh yeah and bad taste i a fucking classic! lol
Someone did another one about some crazy killer sheep recently. It's pretty awesome. Not as good as bad taste. Not sure if it was peter jackson tho.

How's about Office Space, though? Another Mike Judge film. I saw that on VHS when it was first release, I liked it so much I watched it twice 6 hours apart.

On the same topic as silly comedies, I've always liked Super Troopers. "What's going on here, meow?"

Watched Lords of Dogtown which I thought was ACE until my wife told me they made up the bit about the one kid having a brain tumour and he didn't really die.

Which had choked me at the end. Heath Ledger is awesome as Skip in it too, and I love the skating in it.

i remember watching that one. I love Luke Wilson though, so I had no trouble with this brainless and fun plot.

[I also like Harold & Kumar, it makes me laugh my head off and I was astounded when I found out White Castle does exist in the USA! I also love Will Ferrell movies, and clips. I could watch the Landlord until my sides split.]

Anchorman is a winner. Also a big fan of a lot of Ben Stiller flicks, particularly Zoolander; and Dodge Ball is underated IMO.

Tenacious D and the pick of destiny - one of my all time fave's

Watched 'The Wackness' last night and bloody adored it!!
Really ace movie - rate it highly. The soundtrack is phenomenal too - fantastic oldschool hiphop that had me bopping throughout.
What really caught my eye was the accuracy of the movie and the way it re-creates the early 90s in NY. It felt as tho everything was spot on - the music, the clothes, the way the kids acted and talked - everything down to the making of the mix tapes and the ghetto blaster Shapiro has set up on his ice cream trolley. Has such an authentic feel to it. The chemistry between the two main characters, Shapiro and Dr Jeoffery also helps to make the movie enjoyable. They work really well together and create some heart moving and hilarious moments.

Im such a huge sucker for these kind of lost soul movies tho, and this really caught my heart. But i spose you kind of have to relate to the story, or the way the characters feel, in order to enjoy it as much. Can defs see it going over a few heads, but worth making up your own mind for sure! Spesh if you were into your hiphop in the early 90s! :D

Just saw The Zone in the Mexican film festival at ACMI. Bloody amazing film, and my Mexican friend said that it was a good portrayal of life in Mexico now. His other pick for must see of the festival is Blood of My Blood (sangre de mi sangre), which screens on Thurs & Fri nights.

The festival goes until Sunday so check it out! :D
