OK so the title track sounds like Pendulum. Big time.
And that's ok. It's not bad. Actually It's pretty bloody phat! and My 20yo brother thinks it huge, which is a great sign!

It's Huge! It sounds like early prodigy except with the massive stadium dnb sound of a post-pendulum universe.
It's got a breakbeat that I'm sure has been pilfered from the first album and enough lyrics to ensure radio play.

Is this going to be the album that reignites the dnb revolution ?

If anyone can do it?
frankly I can't think of another act that would stand a chance.

but this album is going to be big, if you like it or not.
Even tho specifically it's not exactly the sub-sub genre that we may dig, it's going to be 1000 time bigger than the second biggest dnb release this year.
And the mileage this makes for our scene is incredible.
So I'm very excited.
It could have been electro-house!

I've liked Prodigy from a distance, they tend to follow trends but lead the sheep by proxy.
Not always a bad thing when they sound huge and stonking, and if I could produce something half as good I'd be happy.

lucky for prodigy pendulum emerged in the past 5 years - otherwise they'd have no one to rip off.

this doesn't at all sound like the prodigy of old - it's not a return to their roots at all - it's a basic rip of a moderately successful act that is effectively the prodigy for this decade.

would love to know how omen or invaders sounds like anything from experience or jilted generation. or even fat of the land.

had a listen to the album....not convinced...decent beats but all in all a bit TOO ravey i think

trying to recapture what they used to do with more commercial focus...

listened to music for the jilted generation all the way through for the first time in ages again the other day... new stuff sounds half assed in comparison

and sure "they have to move on/evolve" and all that bullshit, but thats just it - they're NOT. they're trying to do the old stuff style but doing it worse i think

makes me appreciate Howlett at least trying something different with Always Outnumbered now...even if no one seemed to like it at the time

You can hear it when newstead plays his B string in harvester, one and a few other places. But not much.
Interesting how he went on to champion and play with voivod, one of the most under-rated bands of the era.
I got another copy of Nothing face recently, while it's hardly thrash, it's fucking cool.
anyway - yeah metallica were the greatest band in the world once. never again. nevor.

Back to the point, I think the new prodigy may just kick them back into the stratsophere, if headlining the big day out isn't already being there.

have heard 5 or so tracks thus far plus the Noisia remix of 'Omen' and Chase & Status remix of 'Invaders Must Die'. None of which are really hitting a chord with me. Will give the rest of the album a listen when it finally comes out..but like alot of people have already mentioned..the sound they are going for on this new album is very similar to Pendulum and basically very cheesy. A bit dissapointing when you know they are capable of so much better.

They've always been pretty cheesy.
The experience may have been ground-breaking to our ears way back when.
Listen to it now it's pretty damn cheesy.
Firestarter and Breathe were and still are big club tunes, but also went to no 1 in the uk, breathe no 2 here.
Not that it's important, but don't expect them to go all underground all of a sudden.
Don't get me wrong; cheese = rent food etc for me, and I love the stuff.
Their last album got washed up in a sea of electro house bollocks.
At least this might put them back in the charts.
Respect to Pendulum for forging the new ground.
I'm not a huge fan of any of it really, but it's gonna be bread and butter and some stage.

True. But they're still good songs mate. And it's a good album.

It's widely recognised as one of their best albums (open for debate) that was unfortunately badly produced.

There wasn't a hell of a lot of bass around in production back then full-stop, but you're right - even by those standards, it was very a top-heavy affair, EQ wise.
