Moving to melbourne from sydney, sydney nightlife is SHIT

Yes the things that pleasure my eardrums are not catered for in sydney, so fuck off sydney.

Im moving to melbourne in march, I like the sounds of drum & bass, dubstep, reggae, latin, experimental, ambient... and anything in between.

Wondering if these sounds are available on a regular basis? in sydney theres only 1 Drum & bass night a month (konkrete jungle) same as Dubstep (Void) too far inbetween for me. Occasionaly theres some nights by Uber Lingua, I think theres a crew in melbourne?

Ive been searching on melbourne visitor sites for info on 'clubs and bars' but there pretty basic.... 'plays funk and beats on saturdays' is a bit ambigous. If theres banging shit playing out more often than not, ill be one happy man!

Try the music section of this site. Heaps of dubstep to be had here man, you should be able to go to something at least weekly. Plenty of D&B around too. Constant stream of insane acts being but on by the BBA kids and co.

Everything else is here too, melb is very strong on the tech house/techno side of things these days, lots of young uns that seem to be up for the tekkers all of a sudden. doesnt hurt that crews like Stable/Likes of You/Hear Now/Pretty Simple etc etc are putting on heaps of quality internatty techno names.

In sydney there is 2SER 107.3fm, kickin radio station, im long time supporter.... its listener funded... no ads... with dedicated shows for maaaany different styles... 'Phantom Dancer' on midday tuesdays is a crack up! its all swing & jazz broadcasts from the 1930s-1940s... its seriosly banging!

I think Void did one of the earlier Dubstep adventures in sydney back in 07, they brought out Mala DMZ @ the abercrombie... for free. Such an awesome night!!! The 'Hijack' sound system rearanging my organs.

i saw noisia and phace in sydney over chrissy when i was there... I found the beer cheaper, The scene younger and felt it resembled the likes of perths scene.

The melbourne scene isn't big. Most of the clubs with good soundsystems are overtaken by electro /house nights so don't expect anything amazing. Its also rare to find someone from melbourne who's into beats.
