Not a bad first episode, I thought. Slow compared to the first series maybe, but then that was filmed at break-neck speed. The NSW cops are an absolute pisser!

some of the acting in the first was really cringeworthy; i reckon the second is a lot better on that front. they've done a fairly good job of getting the period too. enjoyed.

I thought he was good in the first Underbelly also.

Didn't have a problem with Newton either... mind you, I'm not raving about anyones performance.

Lots of cans partially made up for a slow moving, long running premier...

I'm not sure is why I ask - I don't think he was though, he got off I think.

Former drug squad detective Paul Dale was this morning arrested for the murders of police informer Terence Hodson and his wife Christine.

Police from taskforce Petra arrested Dale at his Wangaratta service station around 9.30 am.

He will appear in the Wangaratta Magistrates' Court later today.

The Hodsons were shot dead in the Kew home on May 15 or 16, 2004.

They were killed after a secret police report was leaked to the underworld that revealed that Hodson was a police informer.

The breakthrough comes after underworld identity Carl Williams was secretly taken from prison to make statements on police corruption to ethical standards police.

It is believed that during his eight days in a police safe house he was asked about his relationship with Dale.

Former drug squad detective Paul Dale has repeatedly denied any involvement in the murders. In December 2003, Hodson, Dale, and Senior Detective David Miechel were charged over a bungled attempt to steal $1.3 million in drugs from an East Oakleigh house.

After Hodson agreed to testify against the two police, a secret police file identifying him as an informer was leaked to the underworld. Within weeks Hodson and his wife were killed.

Without Hodson's testimony the case against Dale collapsed. Miechel was later found guilty and sentenced to a minimum of 12 years' jail.

The Office of Police Integrity recommended this month that Dale be charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and misleading the OPI.

Last night was slow?

I thought it the best episode of this series yet... sure, could have done with more action from the Melbourne boys - and another rendition of "We're From Tigerland" wouldn't have hurt, but at least there was some action last night.

Next week looks cool.
