Magazines
Magazines
They are better for train trips because books can suck specialy when they are really good and you don't want to put them down at your stop.
My zines of choice are Desktop and Atomic, I read them like a christian reads the bible, i.e. from cover to cover, more than once only last me a few days/train trips for me to read everything in em.
Other allright zines are Design, PC Authority (which is uber lame and the only reason I read it occasionaly is because I get it from work for free) on the music front is Knowledge and ATM, then there is the New Scientist which Is usualy always interesting and science IS cool because Dr Karl makes it ok to think science is cool. I dont care much for trasshy tabloid magazines with sensationalistic journoulisim and articles in them like 99% of the shit that is out there.
What magazines do you read?

not much anymore. Wired and Wallpaper occasionally, ditto Desktop/MacWorld/IDN/etc. we get samples of all the ACP/etc magazines, so if the urge strikes to read about Britney's acne scarred coccix they are there.
still subscribe to Knowledge and Breakin' Point.
it's all about online.

national geographic is the most inspiring publication i read. Awesome photos and articles. If you have never picked one up you're missing out.
Aktifmag is some way funny shit.
ATM Oceanic is ill too.
I'd say the 40hz update was the illest imo. Even though it was only online..
High Society is tops too. And Genesis...

irregular - maximum rock n roll/national geographic/time.

New Hampshire's alright if you like fighting.
Inpress - To check for spelling and grammar mistakes I missed.
Beat - To see what the competition are up to. And to look at pretty photos.
Plus Vice, 3D World, DJ mag, Mixmag (sometimes), Wired (sometimes), Lucky, Isnot (near Richmond station), Sight&Sound, Blender, Straight No Chaser, Wax Poetics...
Online: Guardian, Onion, Soccernet, MB, Inthemix, TheScene, Tranzfusion, ResidentAdvisor,
I miss The Face and Muzik. They were both tops most of the time.
And yes, it is a competition.

my work subscribes to quite a few music ones which is cool.
(knowlege, dj, mixmag etc ... and yes we miss muzik and face too although we re-newed our muzik subscription for 24 months just before they went under and never got the $$ back )
apart from that i read the regular streetpress, inpress, beat, vice etc.
also read the age everyday (online at work on weekday mornings n have it delivered at home on the weekends).
also try to read novels a lot so that doesn't leave much time for anything else
