Kanye West wrote:You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It's so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I'm willing to take that on. There's nobody who can match me in sales and in respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael's crown and become the new King. First there was Elvis [Presley], then there was Michael, now in the 21st century it's Kanye's time to rule. I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there's nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop.

works for him doesn't it. He got his own thread on MB.C - and that is a HUGE deal.
Timed it so it people have calmed about MJ now, but still timely enough to get him press.
Still - muppett and does not have anything anywhere near Elvis or MJ in terms of charisma.

Kanye's first 2 LP's were pretty cool... but he's a FUCKING LONG WAY from influencing society to the levels that Michael Jackson did, for the duration he did.
Get a grip fucko.

So what's his angle?
Elvis got really fat and did awesome stuff like shoot TVs, MJ generally seemed to act like a 14 year old and became obsessed with plastic surgery.
What can Kayne offer? Transexual?
Don't hate me for house

Elvis gave us the POP idol screaming ladies style, shaking hips dancing, rhythm and blues influenced rock n roll.
Michael gave us some of the great breaks and the moon walk and the video clip revolution.
Kayne gave us a Maxamillion RE-RUN.

Just read on wwtdd that this is bullshit and he actually didn't say such things.
Although since he's said similar things in the past it's harder to believe that than it is to believe he thinks he's the King of Pop.

the children of the future will determine anyways, so why do we care? You don't have to like his music but a hell of a lot of other people do. There could just as easily be another still undiscovered. Only time will tell.
Michael Jackson will always be.

Ye Ye's response:
I WAS JUST LISTENING TO WENDY WILLIAMS AND HEARD SOME QUOTE ABOUT ME SAYING I'M THE NEW KING OF POP. NOT ONLY DID I NOT SAY THAT, I HAVEN'T SAID ANYTHING. IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD THAT OBVIOUSLY I MADE PEOPLE FEEL THAT I WOULD BE CORNY ENOUGH TO SAY SOMETHING SO WHACK AFTER THE PASSING OF AN IDOL, A LEGEND AND MORE THAN THAT A HUMAN BEING WITH FEELINGS AND FAMILY. IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE, WITHOUT EVEN A SOURCE. ANY RANDOM PERSON CAN TYPE SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET AND THEN THE WORLD BELIEVES IT. I DON'T TALK TO PRESS OR DO TV OR DO PROMOTIONS OF ANY SORT. I'VE STOPPED CHASING AND BUYING INTO FAME. FAME IS LIKE CIGARETTES WITH NO SURGEON GENERAL WARNING. IT DESTROYS MOST PEOPLE AS IT DID TO THE TRUE AND ONLY KING OF POP. WE EXPLOIT OURSELVES AND EAT OUR OWN EGOS 'TILL THERE IS NOTHING LEFT. I HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS WON'T BE THE LAST FALSE STATEMENT WITH MY NAME ON IT, BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I DEFEND MYSELF. I'M DONE.
(excuse the caps it was a copy and paste job.)

yeah great lyrics, every day kinda stuff. Has a broad appeal because people can relate... uses lots of good samples that people can recognise and remember. Catchy dance beats and a constantly evolving sound. He chooses his audience and is an entertainer. So what if he says stupid things... think about all the stupid things we all do n say... and MJ was a bit a of a fruit loop too, no??? But that's what made him so unforgettable.
but hey, what ever floats ur boat I suppose! I'm a bit of a glow in the dark fan myself

oh and a I like to beat it... and do the hound dog.

I'm not really sure what any of this means...?? Not down with the lingwo sorry
Was the discussion was about whether or not people on the forum liked his music - or - whether they thought it was possible for him to be a big as MJ? I must have been mistaken cos I thought it was the latter. Personal opinion - 808 was a cool album... Maybe you just didn't listen to it in the right frame of mind? Kanye is da bomb.... ESW

Auto tune is that whack sounding voice manipulation fad that is destroying "music" these days. Horrible stuff and Kanyes new album is littered with it.
IMO if anyone was going to replace MJ as the "king of pop" it would be Justin Timberlake
Can sing
Can Dance
Production is tops
Was the first one to shag Britney
Has been doing it since a kid just like MJ
n*sync n*sucked though

"West himself openly stated that he loves using Auto-Tune and is dismayed that the term has been commonly associated with being "wack". He considers the technology "the funnest thing to use" and compared the situation to when he was a child and thought the color pink was cool until someone told him "it was gay", producing an analogy of how the views of society can rob people of their confidence and self-esteem"
