St Kilda Festival: Make sure you have your say!

Post by stkildafestival »

St Kilda Festival turns 30 in 2010 so it's time to check in. We want to hear what you think of the Festival now, and what you want to see from here.

St Kilda Festival is just around the corner and council is reviewing the event to determine how it can continue to deliver maximum public value to the local community.

As part of this process, an online forum has been set up so that a wide range of people can have their say about the festival.

The forum aims to capture people’s experiences of the festival, encouraging users to bring forward their ideas on what is working and how the festival might be improved.

You can start own topic about the festival or wax lyrical about some of the existing topics such as your ideal line up, what the festival means to you personally, what is good about the festival and what should change.

The forum will only be around until Monday 9 November, so make sure you do not miss out on having your say.

Have something actually worthwhile happen there, rather than just be half a million people getting shitfaced in public.

God you are a bunch of synical northside wankers arn't you!!

St Kilda Festival is not just a one day thing either, but includes movie festivals, local art events, community building and other culturally diverse stuff that most North siders are just tooooo cool for.

As for the main day - i have had some killer days there, used to love sitting on the hill watching the bikes on the triangle with Sid and my mates. Before dirt bikes became boring.

The trance stage used to be dope when outdoor trance stages where still interesting.

Paul Kelly singing about St Kilda on the main stage at St Kilda festival as the sun goes down. Well you would have to have a synical pole so far up your arse you can't even get south of the river so we dont care - to not enjoy that.

Keep it fresh and edgy I say. Plenty of stages, diversity, support local and make sure the traders get something out of it.

If I was travelling and came accross a city with a street festival that had 300,000 people! I would be all over it - a great asset to the Melbourne calander.

Its not a North vs South thing.
The High Vibes Festival is comparable, maybe not in numbers, check o the differences though.
Both festivals need more renegade action - fuck all these expesinsive drinks.

Needs more drum n bass, dubstep (on the Heartical of course) and breaks IMO. Past events with electronic music side stages were awesome.

Wander into the back streets of St Kilda during the festy and find loads of renegage systems in local parks, front yards and street corners.

For sure. But I'd like to see more renegade action. I remember seeing the Gurg several years ago on the big stage. In general I think the acts are a little safe and boring. more underground/ lesser known music acts.
Hearticle for the mutha fucken win.

C'mon now. You know Heartical love and support dubstep etc but Reggae revive and dubwise is what the soundsystem is really about, this music is very much unrepresented here, so we have to promote that.

We would very much like to do a special valentines day lovers rock session at the festival and nice it up :smt007

Yes Star nuff dubstep runnings in Melbs including stuff we involved with which of course is a great thing we have going on here, but often our cause as a traditional dub reggae sound gets a little lost in all this and needs to be maintained from time to time.

Never the less nuff respek to Fooishbar an the Too Much posse also Wobble crew in all their works.

Heartical HiFi Outernational is the first and only soundsystem in Melbourne at present that represents dub, reggae and the culture of soundsystem rather than just promoting DJ line ups. A unique thing this round these parts.

Any how drifting off topic a little here but the point is we would love to represent at the St Kilda festival along with many others. :D

yeah, no doubt :) what i said wasn't to take away from that, would be great to see a proper dub shakeout with the full heartical crew & family any time, any place! was just musing on what else would be nice too. hell, if you ask me we should just have a weekend-long heartical festival with all the sounds represented.

large up full charge up!
