Don't know if that suits everyoneT I C K A wrote:Do we have a definate line-up so that someone can started designing posters??? What should it say, etc, etc ???
Could we arrange a pick-up point for the posters ??? i'll cover the western subs ( North Melb, Footscray, Flemington, Kensington etc)
As for the logo I agree with shepherd simply coz its simple punchy and gets the point across coz of the whole aid thing, red cross pluss the cross on the rekkid... damn im crap at explaining stuff
the cd ting sounds cool I'll def wanna get my hands on one, the tape for the covor of the cd would be mad

the issue with a red cross on a white background is that it's actually trademarked worldwide and is illegal:
Red Cross: "We often see the red cross emblem used as a decorative symbol on signs, in advertising or to indicate first aid stations. This may not seem like a problem, but it is wrong. Use of the emblem by commercial enterprises dilutes the impact of the symbol at home and abroad besides being against the law."
hence the other colours... anyways, i like the third one. a cross (reversed out) on a vinyl sticker. gets across the medium and the message and is the simplest of the four.
happy to mock up posters/cd art/whatever if you guys want. let me know how tonight goes.

this could be misconstrued ... but the venue wasn't booked that night ... so one could as cynical to say they're maybe looking for bodies in shop above being charitable.
i think no venue hire is great, but i don't think it'd be that pushy raising the possibility of a bar contribution - even 5% of takings would be at least $500 with around 3-400 heads in the place.
Maybe ask for sponsorship assitance ... ie, if they can source 20 cases of 'x' beer ... will they buy it back off melbourne beats at normal wholesale cost to venue?

how about the record logo with the cross as two red band-aids, don't think you would run into too much trouble there....valuetime wrote:the issue with a red cross on a white background is that it's actually trademarked worldwide and is illegal:

Man, i leave for an hour and you guys are making cd's!
I think it's a great idea! I also have a burner.
I am taking notes from here for tonight, i have it all sorted people- trust!
And I like the idea of white on red, eye catching, but it may increase costs of producing posters etc
Can't wait to see you all down at E55 tonight--- this is it!!

seriously, I'd advise staying well clear of any type of red cross on a white background. there have been a zillion lawsuits to stop people using it, even charities.
ps - I may be able to get a CD duplication company to do a run of CD's for us. I'll give 'em a call and let ya know tonight

do you need an AMCOS/APRA licence if the works are unreleased, unpublished and there is sign off and written consent to release the works at no charge from each of the artists?

just so everyone knows what we're on about, I think you need a license to do fundraising events. they don't cost anything but you still need one.
Lynty bwoy is on the case
i believe you do ben...shepherd wrote:do you need an AMCOS/APRA licence if the works are unreleased, unpublished and there is sign off and written consent to release the works at no charge from each of the artists?

you need one even if you're doing a demo and giving it away for nothing!
whoever is organising the cd stuff should call amcos 9426 5200
it used to be sam (female sam) to speak to there re mechanical licences when i worked there... but that may have changed as it was a long time ago!
we're talking about the cd though ben! not the music played on the night.shepherd wrote:prince will have a contract with amcos/apra for royalties for music played on the night ... i think AMCOS/APRA only need to get involved for published/signed music
yes prince will have an apra licence for the music on the night...
but you'll need an amcos licence to manufacture cds...
