AN*TEN*NAE
(Functional Breaks UK, Muti Music, Universal)
http://www.myspace.com/antennae
http://www.an-ten-nae.net

One of San Francisco’s most sought after DJs and live performers. After years of production ranging from electronic to breaks to dubstep, he has developed his signature “Acid Crunk” sound, currently dominating the West Coast.

His Mixtapes “Punk Rock Country Hop” and “Acid Crunk” were received with wide acclaim. The original blend of crunked out electro madness and pure dance-floor appeal has pushed the limits of genres and soundsystems worldwide. An-ten-nae’s customized live sets push audiences and electronics to limits seldom seen!

Adam has been DJing and producing electronic music for over 15 years. He has toured Mexico, Australia, Africa, Japan and extensively throughout Europe and North America. On the West Coast, he has been an integral part of the evolution of the underground music culture in San Fran and LA.

Adam was an intergral part of the launch of Blueroom America and Fuel USA, and co-founer of the global distribution company “Eyephunk”. He was also a partner in one of the first record stores on the West Coast “Frequency-8” [F-8] and co-founder of “Ceiba Records”. The original outlaw of bass, An-Ten-Nae continues to innovate and lead the wilde west on its shotgun advertures into the next level sound!

TERMINAL DYSFUNKTION
(SOMATICA / CHURCH OF UNHOLY BASS)

Image Image

Terminal Dysfunktion: Started as a collabrative DJ project of Melbourne based beat freaks T.D.Shagga and Lysdexic.

Individually they have been active members of the electronic music community for the past 8 years having played gigs at parties and festivals all over Victoria & Australia many times, such as Somatica, Earthcore, Rainbow Serpent, Freakreation, Cairns Winter Solstice & Wide Open Spaces to name a few.

Along with organising their own events Somatica & Hopskotch they recently joined forces to introduce a new night of low frequency evangelism, the Church of Unholy Bass (CH-U.B). Not being satisfied with playing and putting on parties, they are now spending time in the studio writing funkified breakstep beats with their first track Frotteurism, set for release soon!

BASS BIN LADEN

Image

September 11 2001: frustrated and stupid americans crash aeroplanes into the world trade centre.

September 13 2001: DJ Dolebludger, a founding member of sydneys' "ohms not bombs" political party sound system, wakes, to find his picture on the front cover of every newspaper in the known world. It seems the Americans, desperate for a scapegoat and confused by a recent street press article about "Melbournes Newest Audio Terrorist", have pinned the attack on the innocent Dolebludger. Always one to laugh in the face of adversity, Dolebludger changes his name to Bass Bin Laden, voted by 'What DJ?' magazine as the best DJ name of the century "so far".

As if these crimes weren't enough he has also spawned the evil devil child known as Ghetto Fabulous and the weekly monster players ball. These themed allnighters have plummeted Melbournes party goers into new levels of debauchery and attracted as many as 1000 punters while still maintaining their underground integrity. Bass Bin also freelances and has played slabs of bass inspired terror for Rainbow Serpent Festival, Kid Koala, Meredith Music Festival, Terriyaki Anarki Saki, Earthcore, Chant Down, Earthdance as well as numerous interstate gigs from Adelaide to Cairns and overseas gigs including Sonar in Barcelona

he is presently working on gigs with the Omelette and Sub-Bass crews and has toured Bassnectar, Heyoka ,Vibesquad and ill Gates ……hold tight ...

MOTIVE
(ZENON/OPEN RECORDS)
http://www.myspace.com/motive_openrecords

A well respected Aussie DJ for the past 10 yrs - featuring at almost every major party and festival in the country such as Rainbow Serpent, Maitreya, Cairns Winter Solstice and Maya Festival - Motive has just exploded onto the production scene with his debut track “Dusty Nostrils” topping the Beatport Charts at Number # 4 within a week of being released!

While this track was released on a minimal/tech compilation for the legendary Aussie prog trance label, Zenon Records, Motive is more widely know for being an integral part of the Australian progressive techno/house/minimal label Open Records.

Motive’s sets incorporate the essence of the progressive techno sound, searching for a massive vibe but with an emotive and dance floor focus. This is crafted using a mix of his own tracks along with the freshest on offer from Open Records and around the world.

INTERPULSE
(OPEN RECORDS)
http://www.myspace.com/interpulse

INTERPULSE, has been composing and performing music for over 20 years, and producing electronica for over 15 years. Also known for his 8 years with successful live tribal trance duo Mantrix, Richie has played at nearly every major Australian outdoor festival including 9 years at Rainbow Serpent, 7 years at Earthdance, 4 years at Tribeadelic, 3 years at Maitreya, 3 years at Phonoscope, 3 years at Winter/Summer Solstice, 2 years at Akasha, 3 years at Spiral Harmonics, 2 years at Tranceplant, 2 years at Exodus, Outback Eclipse, Audiogasm, Earth Freq, Nagambie 2000, Woodford, Melbourne Fringe, and more. Together with his studio partner Ben, they produced 6 albums on various labels including Sub, Psy-Harmonics, before the completion of their partnership in 2007 – paving the way for Richie’s solo project Interpulse to take formation. The fresh sound is focused on uplifting journeys through deep progressive music, combining melodic atmospheres with driving techno basslines and layered tribal percussions - all wound together with a distinct Australian outdoor festival vibe and strong dancefloor focus. 2008 saw Interpulse embark on a successful Japanese tour which coincided with the first Interpulse release, "Transcender", a digital EP released by Open Records.

ZEN OCHREN

Xen Ochren is Evan Morgan, an avid pursuer of life through music, community and the search for the Divine... "I love so much about
progressive music... Its got such potential for depth, for story telling, for hypnotic rhythms and harmonic grooves... I crave the
challenge of making electronic music as live as I can .. I admire the beauty of music, and how we can inhale it through our ears and exhale
it through dance... and I love experimenting with composition, trying to paint exactly the kinds of sounds which connect me most to
myself ... for me these are the goals, I'll be chasing them forever!"

Xen Ochren, a long term member of the Mutagen community, is also active composing for animations, live theatre and dance productions, and has just finished a diploma of music performance playing live laptop, percussion and didge.

Hi everyone,

Hope you all enjoyed the Silly Season so far and now making your way towards New Year's celebrations. We're all really looking forward to kicking off 2010 with a bang!!!

We would like to announce the following artists in our next round of announcements - more to came - as always, because as ALWAYS we don't like releasing all of it in one hit - bit by bit we like to surprise you. So here goes!

WE WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME THE FOLLOWING .................

SUSERI (DXM)
http://www.myspace.com/djsuseri

Image

Electric tunes that rock you like nothing else come from this little girl from Japan. Suseri Nagasawa aka DJ Suseri brings a feeling of WOW when she plays her funky electro and techno grooves that keep you on the edge of your toes. Suseri began her music career in 2001 and progressed playing through a change of music generes until coming to find her own music style.

In 2007, Suseri began playing at local events in Melbourne and has continued to share her music magic with beloved followers.

The majority of you would be familiar with her having seen her play at larger events such as Maitreya, Tribeadelic and many other events including a regular favourite at DXMs Almost Human events.

We at Ostara are chuffed to finally have one of the DXM crew on board for our first indoor for 2010. Welcome aboard Suseri!

PLANET JUMPER (LIGHTSPEED RECORDS)
http://www.myspace.com/fordandschapper

Image

Planet Jumper aka Ford and Schapper's sound combines the various and varied interests the two of them possess to create dance music that everyone can shake to. Fusing low slung disco, breaks, hip hop, house, rock, trance and of course funk, the music is a highly percussive, groove based sound that moves between tempos, while always having one eye on the dance floor. Planet Jumper's live show which is often supported by the metronomic Richard Kelly and takes in a range of production from collaborators Henry Banks, Ash Mortimer and Ed Lane, is a furious live remix - mash of 40+ original compositions that changes quickly, but always ensures that the focus of the music is on the groove.

Formed out of a shared love of mid to late 70’s and early 80’s funk, disco and boogie (Paliament Funkadelic, Zapp, Locksmith, The Bar Kays, Fatback Band etc), Ford and Schapper started writing together in 2005 after talking about it through many a useless afternoon. Once they got going, they decided that no amount of rudeness was too rude. They write rude tunes, for rude people who like to party and dance.

Both musicians/artists outside the group: Drew Schapper plays drums in the engaging psych/classical rock band “Artist Proof”, while Steve Ford has DJ’d all over Melbourne, regularly dropping his own production and edits, as well as the sounds of Planet Jumper in his sets. Combining twisted basslines, eclectic samples and live drums and percussion, Planet Jumper’s unashamedly sticky sound guarantee’s get down in all the right ways and areas.

SUBSTRUCTURE (POLYPHASE RECORDS)
http://www.myspace.com/substructureaustralia

Image

There is within the infinite expanse of what is called the universe, a small field in which man's conscious and subconscious conduct can influence the course of events.

Substructure discovered the psychedelic sound in the early part of the new millennium and was mesmerised by the limitless possibilities of synthesising sound. He immediately set up a small studio, locked himself away, and began producing beats with the intent of influencing dancefloors and brainwaves with his unique and distinctive sound.

Let him take you on a deep progressive journey through the substructures of the mind, and help make your small part of the universe a funkier one...

We at Ostara would like to congratulate both Browny and his beautiful wife who are both getting ready to bring a new soul into this beautiful world of ours. Congratulations guys and best wishes leading up to delivery time!!!!

DJ DEADLOCK (LONDON/UK)
http://www.myspace.com/djdeadlock
http://www.djdeadlock.com

Image

Hailing from north London Deadlock cut his teeth in the underground party scene. He built his name fronting a prime time show on London's leading pirate radio station Origin fm. His reputation spread to Europe with gigs in Switzerland, Poland, Italy & France playing
alongside the likes of Andy C, Grooverider, Ed Rush, Rusko and Skream.

Deadlock recently toured through India & Asia introducing the exciting new sounds of bass driven dubstep, including a residency at Cloth & Clef (Kuala Lumpur)

Now in the southern hemisphere Deadlock has exploaded onto the dubstep scene having played at Ostara Festival (2009), Strawberry Fields Festival (2009) and is now currently in New Zealand preparing to perform at Monster Mash New Year's 3 day Festival for 09/10.

With enthusiasm, a musical breadth close to complete and a presence behind the decks many aspire to, Deadlock is one to watch over the many years to come.

FAr-Q: (Shakti Surfers/Ostara)

Image

After 5 years of mixing psytrance Joe Lacey (previously known as KidTrip) succumb to the rumble late in 2008...Finding his groove with harder hitting dubstep tunes, he's been steadily building a hefty collection of slimey & grimey beats begging to be let loose on the dancefloor!

Sticking with his guns Joe still brings his signiture "straight up...no shit" selction of music that has previously moved dancefloors around Victoria...Freaks and fiends of night time Dubstep wrap your ears around FAr-Q!

MORPHINGTON

Image

24 year old, Adrian Collet (Morphington) is pushing a clean crisp style of melodic techno, also at times being influenced by some progressive house, electronica and heavier tech beats. A fair turn around from the type of music that entranced and begun his passion for electronic music about five years ago.

An enthusiasm for music, self expression and alternative lifestyle stretches back far beyond his introduction to open air music festivals for the boy that grew up in a quiet country town not too far from the beach.

These earlier years of enthusiasm for the alternative music scene and explorations of this unique and colourful existence have created something special.

An individual that is creating thumping rides of magical moonlit mentalepathies, mixed with some heavenly, heart wrenching dancefloor tweakers.

Big mad love to ya's!!!

Now that we have finally closed the books for Ostara 2009 we are so proud to announce that thanks to all the artists, production crew, volunteers, EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE who took part in Ostara Festival 2009 - we raised at total of $10,000 which will be donated to the Wautharong Community and the Wurdale Community. Please pass it on. We're so stoked with what we achieved collectively! THANK YOU from ALL of us at Ostara. We really could not have done this without you ;-) Thank you also for your continuing love and support.

Once I receive formal letter of thanks from both communities, I will post up on all forums!

Over the last three years Ostara has successfully raised

$1,500 (2007 - when Ostara was born),

$5,000 (2008) and

$10,000 (2009).

Imagine what we'll achieve and raise in 2010!!!

Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

See you all the 15th January (next Friday) for Ostara's first indoor event for 2010. Most of you already know but for those that don't, as Ostara is a not-for-profit organisation, the purpose of our indoors are to raise further funds to invest in the Festival in September. We hope to provide you and even bigger production to last and with more diversity when it comes to music. We already have a few key acts earmarked for 2010. Wish us luck as we slowly start approaching these artists!

Much love and respect to all. We love you!

It is with great regret that our Joe (Far-Q) has been collared to work tomorrow at stupid o'clock back in Warnambool meaning he will not be able to perform tonight, but in his place we have one of the SubBass boys - SHREDDER (SubBass Soundsystem)!

Nice to have you back with us Shredder!
