Re: Gripe thread
heheheh, no that's a help, it all is.
I dont want to be rich, nor famous, nor infamous hehe, but I just feel like there's MORE and I dont know if its here in this relatively small pond. Melbourne is the best city in Australia, for me and in general, and my friends are the main reason that makes it so, but I just cant help the nagging feeling that I could be acting out some even more crazy adventure living somewhere else.
Plus, im nearly 32, which in some worlds is young, in others older, and my time for adventures feels as if it is NOW, though perhaps it will always be so. In fact, perhaps I will always be this way, existential woes seem to plague me a few times each day, the roller coaster, uppy downy, uppy downy, happiness there but that something elusive always just outside my reality.
see, makes me want a spliff, thought I know now that isn't going to help, only put this crap off for another day.

Re: Gripe thread
lol once you haven't smoked weed in like a year you will be fine. i stopped cold turkey after smoking about 20 bongs a day at least for years. now i have weed if there is any around and i want to sleep or something which is once every few months if that. only need about half a toke and i'm utterly wankered.
i have no doubt that giving up weed was one of the best things i have done. sure you can function but you will never function as well as you could, you don't need it.

Re: Gripe thread
maybe you need to look at others aspects of your past as well GK. Like - have you moved lots in life? Towns, countries, states, suburbs. Have you changed jobs fairly regularly i.e. every few years? Stuff like that.
I moved like 12 times by the age of 8 years old, we then managed to stay in one spot for 10 years (miracle i must say), and then i moved every few years since then. No kidding when it hits about the 3 year mark i feel like i have to move, its an all consuming feeling inside like i have to escape to a new location, even if its just over to the next suburb.
maybe something like that to take into account?

I'm sure you're right huge, but I'll be happy with simply smoking less. I just don't see the need to give up totally.

Re: Gripe thread
Different strokes for different folks
Those with addictive personalities sometimes need to just give something the total boot to be able to move on effectively
Like Huge, for many years I smoked an absolute fuckload of dope. Practically led a stoned existence. Went cold turkey for ages and now on the odd occasion I have some, all I need is about two tokes of a spliff and I turn into a completely paranoid social retard. Always regret it massively afterwards too
TBH I highly doubt I'll ever get back to the stage where I can enjoy a social toke and a laugh. More power to those that can though

GK - All this reminds me of a quote i once heard
"One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure its worth watching."
I cant wait, cause there is a period of about 7 years where i have no idea what happened

Re: Gripe thread
Well im with QR on this one, i only smoke maybe once a month on average now, maybe not even. I was given a quarter on my birthday in April and ive stil got maybe 1-2 grams left of it!DBoy wrote:sooooo true.aroes wrote: I turn into a completely paranoid social retard.
I don't get paranoid, never did, but i DO talk a lot of dribble (even more so than usual) and come up with crazy/stupid ideas, especially movie scripts, thats my specialty.
They are all so good in my head, but then the next day they seem so lame or too hard to bother with.
Weed is awesome. fuck all y'all haters.
tis also REALLY good to work out with believe it or not (weight lifting), gets you focused on using the right muscle groups and you dont get as bored.

Re: Gripe thread
lizkins - yes babe, thats partly, it, im a very changeable individual and feel if im not being challenged, then what is the point. and you are right, i went to 10 school, lived in three countries and have had a myriad of jobs, lives in over 30 share houses, and while life has settled down as ive gotten older, I miss the unknown of being more on the 'edge' quite often.
i mean, in the last year, ive changed a lot of things, im a fit person now and never have been, i work in a job where i love my bosses, ive lived in the same house with varying different people who on the whole, are good peoples. I just cant help wanting more, from every day, every moment, I want constant flux and adventure and its hard to balance that need with an urge to also live comfortably enjoying the company of your friends/puppy etc.
exactly Al. Which makes me think i need to go live somewhere crazy, fly by the seat of my pants, cos I wonder if what im doing now is worth watching when I compare it to others out there in the world, even if i am relatively happy.almax wrote: "One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure its worth watching."

Re: Gripe thread
I'm assuming you've been to the doctor?
Since you've just travelled to China (yes?) it might be worth getting a blood test for malaria. It can lay dormant for a while before you actually get sick. If you went to any of the areas below, it might not be such a bad idea to investigate further.
or it could just be a chest infection.

Yeh I've been to my GP, its definitely just a chest infection.
plus we didn't go to any of those areas, we did HK, Macau, Beijing, Chengdu, Tibet, Shanghai which are all in those green areas.

Re: Gripe thread
Saturday night/Sunday morning and I'm sitting at home writing a grant application . Wtf is a 'synergistic activity'? Why do you care who my co-editors of a conference proceedings are? Can I write next to them 'useless prick, never done anything, would probably nix my application out of spite'??
More importantly, 6 pages to go on the detailed project outline (ie. the hard bit). At least I have tomorrow, but that makes it no weekend for the second week in a row . More more importantly, why am I even doing this when they ain't going to give me the cash?? I mean, I is only asking for $100k...
Then, even when I've finished this, I've got a giant pile of midterms to mark

i'm so grrrrumpy at the moment about the shit state of social manners i've observed of late. and total lack of community respect
is it too much to ask to say please and thank you to shop assistants or if you're late for a booking or not turning up CALL and let them know- restaurant, hairdresser, vet etc.
organised for this dude to come and pick up some furniture he wanted to buy last week. raced home and he didn't turn up. no call, no text, nothing
FUKCING RUDE
don't even start me on people dumping their shit tv's and old fridges on nature strips all around brunny and stealing plants from people's gardens. buy your own fucking plants and take your SHIT to the dump.
if people are rude tell them so. i started with telling someone at work this morning and was met with a face of dumb shock like no whaaa?
YES YOU FUCKER. you need to learn some manners!
